Bible question: Did God commend David for desiring to to build a house in for Him in Jerusalem? (2 Chronicles 6)

What Is Your Life

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. (James 4:13-1 ESV)

The current events that we are witnessing on television and experiencing it in our day to day lives must be similar in some respects to what our grandparents used to say “son or daughter, you just don’t understand how rough it was back in those days.” Truth be told, most of us have not had to beg for food - thanks to the goodness of God and his love for all people. Such experiences teach us to place the proper value on our daily life.

(Matthew 6:25) In the powerful “sermon on the mount”, Jesus teaches us not to have anxiety about our life. As Christians, we must be good citizens in all circumstances. Look for opportunities to help someone in need.

(Philippians 4:4-9) God holds each person responsible for what we think about. Paul gives us a reminder of some things Christians should THINK about each day: Truth; Honorable ideas; Justice (not only for ourself); Pure (get mind out of the gutter); Lovely – expand to include events that inspire us to love others; Commendable things (another person’s achievments); Excellent attributes of God and others; and whatever Worthy of Praise.

(1 Thessalonians 5:6) Jesus teaches that his followers are the “light of the world”. Be alert and think soberly.

(2 Timothy 2:7) Each person – including young people are in charge of what we think about. Resist evil thoughts!

(Hebrews 10:35-36) We are reminded to never forget the hard times that we have been challenged to endure.

(Revelation 3:1-3 Time is running out quicker than we may have ever realized. We may never have a time like this. DB
