 Mrs. Gross’ NewsWednesday, January 27th, 2016Dear Families, We are almost at our 100th Day of school! We are almost 100 days smarter. We will be celebrating our 100th day on Wednesday, February 2nd! We are working hard in room 164. Just a reminder to dress students for the weather inside and outside. It is really cold at certain times of the day in the classroom. Also, if anyone thinks of it, we are out of snacks. We appreciate any donations! Please look below to see what we have been working on.Upcoming EventsFriday the 29th our class earned an ice cream party for meeting our RAZ kids goal! Way to go :)Wednesday, February 3rd is a 2 hour delay day and our 100th Day celebration.Thursday, February 4th, Mrs. Gross’ classroom will have a short presentation at 2:30. You are welcome to join us in the gym for our Celebration of Learning!Friday, February 5th we will be taking a field trip to the STEM building. High schoolers have been working hard to create forces and motion design challenges for our 2nd graders. May the force be with you!Friday, February 12th we will celebrate our friendship with a Valentine’s party at 2:30pm. I will send home a class list soon. If you would like to come in or send a craft or game for the class, you are welcome to do so. Just let me know:)MathMeasurement! We are using appropriate measurement tools, estimating length, and comparing different units of measurement. make sure to discuss with your child all of the various ways that we use measurement in the real world. Time, distance, weather, cooking, length, width, and height, etc.Social StudiesWe’ve just finished traveling to different countries in Asia. We discussed cultural practices, language, folktales, art, and food. Students will be choosing one of the countries we studies and create a postcard to display their learning!Reading/WritingWe are closing up our unit on folktales and fairytales. We have been comparing different versions of the same story. After dissecting The Little Red Riding Hood, students are busy typing their first essay on Google Docs!
