NOTICE OF DRINKING WATER TREATMENT TECHNIQUE VIOLATION
Harris County MUD 220 water system PWS ID 1013321 has violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in Title 30, Texas Administrative Code (30 TAC), Section 290, Subchapter F. Public water systems are required to properly disinfect water before distribution, maintain acceptable disinfection residuals within the distribution system, monitor the disinfectant residual at various locations throughout the distribution system, and report the results of that monitoring to the TCEQ on a quarterly basis. Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches. During June and July 2018, sufficient levels of chlorine residual were not met in more than five percent (5%) of monthly samples. While you have already received notification for insufficient levels of chlorine during June 2018 the TCEQ requires us to include this information again with the notification for July 2018.
We are taking the following actions to address this issue by continuing to flush the distribution system and are working with the City of Houston, Audubon Subdivision's water supplier, to ensure that water provided to the subdivision has adequate disinfection levels. Terrace Brook Subdivision sample results indicate that the water received meets the minimum disinfection levels.
Please share this information with all people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (i.e., people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact _Sharon Salinas_ at _(281) 376-8802_. Delivered on: _03/08/2019_
All bacteriological sample test results for the Audubon Subdivision and the Terrace Brook Subdivision are negative for microbial contamination.
We are required to deliver this public notice to all customers in Harris County MUD 220, however this notice only affects customers in the Audubon Subdivision.
