OnBoarding Program Provides Warm Welcome to New Employees

On Dec. 1, IRMC launched a new OnBoarding program designed to ensure a welcoming environment, more quickly connect new employees to their colleagues, and integrate to the new role and organization. The program is based upon research revealing that employees who receive a structured OnBoarding and Orientation are 58 percent more likely to remain employed by the organization three years later.

One key component of the program is the OnBoarding badge reel ? a yellow star badge reel with the IRMC logo. New employees will wear this badge reel for the first 90 days. This allows all employees at IRMC to know which employees are new to the organization. All employees are asked to participate in OnBoarding by welcoming employees wearing the yellow star badge reel.

Other components of the program include guidelines for managers to ensure workspaces and resources are ready, discussion guides for managers to hold one-week, 30-day and 60-day check-in meetings with the new employee, a profile of the new employee to be placed on the department bulletin board, and an

OnBoarding Champion to help employees acclimate to IRMC. OnBoarding Champions have completed an orientation to understand the expectations of this new role and feedback on the program has been very positive.

We would like to encourage ALL employees to participate by providing a warm, friendly welcome to all new employees. Let them know you are willing to help and show them what a great workplace we have. Everyone can make a difference in the new employee experience at IRMC!

403(b) Automatic Enrollment Plan

IRMC is introducing automatic enrollment to the 403(b) plan. As of Jan. 1, 2016, all new and existing 403(b) participants will automatically contribute 4 percent of compensation to the plan. What does this mean to you?

? If you currently contribute 0 to 4 percent, your new pretax contribution will increase to 4 percent. You will be enrolled automatically in the plan even if you are not currently participating.

? If you currently contribute 4 percent or more, your pretax contribution will remain unchanged.

If you are not interested in enrolling, you have the opportunity to opt out between Dec. 30 and Jan. 7.

To help you understand the new enhancements, VALIC is offering meetings on Monday, Dec. 14. Please join a Valic representative in Medical Conference Room A or B at 7:30 am, 1 pm or 5:30 pm for a 30- minute session. If you are not able to attend, please contact one of the Valic financial advisors: Greg Pickett at ext. 1123; Ellan Rice at ext. 1126; or Tony Tringali at ext. 1121. Each can be reached by email using first name.last name@.

Incentive Bonus Arriving this Month

Last year, IRMC implemented a hospitalwide incentive program. While not all of the goals were achieved, there will be a bonus paid this December based upon our performance-- not less than $100, prorated for less than full-time work. We will repeat the incentive plan next year with a potential of $500 per employee, re-utilizing many of the same measures focused on patient satisfaction and patient flow. Be on the lookout for your paper check no later than Tuesday, Dec. 15.

IRMC Auxiliary's 25th Annual Tree of Lights Tonight

Don't forget to join us tonight for the 25th Annual Tree of Lights Ceremony at 6 pm across from the Medical Center's main entrance. Highlights include songs of the season performed by Cantor Dannah Rubinstein of Temple Beth Shalom and the return of Kristi Beckett, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. Clark Beckett. Refreshments will be served in the Ambulatory Services Center lobby at the end of the ceremony.

There's still time to honor or memorialize a friend, family member, teacher, nurse, physician or any loved one, with a light on the tree and a special holiday greeting. Stop by the front desk and ask how. Proceeds from the ceremony will benefit children, new moms and babies in our hospital community.

Kristi Beckett, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. Clark Beckett, will be joining Cantor Dannah Rubinstein of Temple Beth Shalom for this evening's event.
