THE TULIP MAGIC WORD -- ELECT

Calvinists use their magic word on anyone who does not agree with their Calvinist flower – TULIP. They seek to buffalo and bewilder their opposition with this word. Nevertheless, all the word means is “CHOSEN” and is used in various contexts of scripture with various personages doing the election or choosing, including God. The other consideration is for what the chosen one is chosen. Basically, there are several Greek words used in the New Testament, two that are primarily used by the Calvinists to prove being chosen before folks are born. We cite Strong’s not as the authority but as points of interest.

G1586 ἐκλέγομαι eklegomai Middle voice from G1537 and G3004 (in its primary sense); to select: - make choice, choose (out), chosen.

G1588 ἐκλεκτός eklektos From G1586; select; by implication favorite: - chosen, elect.

G1589 ἐκλογή ekloge¯ From G1586; (divine) selection (abstractly or concretely): - chosen, election.

G4400 προχειρίζομαι procheirizomai Middle voice from G4253 and a derivative of G5495; to handle for oneself in advance, that is, (figuratively) to purpose: - choose, make.

G138 αἱρέομαι aihreomai Probably akin to G142; to take for oneself, that is, to prefer.

G140 αἱρετίζω aihretizo¯ From a derivative of G138; to make a choice: - choose. Some of the forms are borrowed from a cognate (ἕλλομαι hellomai), which is otherwise obsolete: - choose. Some of the forms are borrowed from a cognate hellomai, hel-lom-ahee; which is otherwise obsolete.

G4899 Συνεκλεκτός suneklektos From a compound of G4862 and G1586; chosen in company with, that is, co-elect (fellow Christian): - elected together with.
