Throughout the year students have had the opportunity to improve their grades, master the material, and be better prepared for the AP test. Students can:

1) Fix all MC questions they get wrong and receive full credit, if they follow my revision plan.

2) Write extra credit essays.

3) Go above and beyond on assignments and get extra credit.

4) Come to after school sessions when offered for EC.

5) Bring back grade sheets at times for EC.

6) Complete incomplete work for partial credit.

7) Outline chapters or sections of the text.

8) Summarize or illustrate notes

The above is a generic list of items. Throughout the year, I have said students could do other assignments for extra credit. The list below of essay topics is still on the table:

Extra credit essays! I have compiled a list of questions that I will accept as extra credit. I expect the essays to

be of the highest quality & not done in a haphazard manner but also following the format we have covered for essays. I will accept typed extra credit essays. No fluff essays accepted—I will return them to you with no points awarded.

1) Compare & contrast Unit One with Unit Two—what are the significant historical developments for each what changed

& what stayed the same? You may also do this for other units.

2) Compare & contrast European & sub-Saharan contacts with the Islamic world from 600-1450.

3) Compare & contrast the role of women in the following civilizations:

Aztecs/Incas Islam China

4) Compare & contrast Shintoism & Buddhism in Japan.

6) Compare & contrast the impact, global importance, & how each of the five trade networks changed over time for the

following up to 1750

7) Compare & contrast how Islam, Buddhism, Confucianism impacted the people as it spread outward.

9) Compare & contrast the short & long-term effects of the Crusades on Western Europe, Eastern Europe, & the

Middle East.

10) COT for the WWW including the role of technology for Units I-IV.

11) C/C the impact of the Mongol invasion on two of the following: China, Russia, & India

12) Describe the part played by trade in the development of trading centers in three of the following:

Cairo Guangzhou Samark& Tombocktou Venice

13) There were 3 main areas of cultural hierarchical & contagious diffusion & syncretinization during the 600-1750

(Asia, Americas, Africa), provide specific historical evidence of the nature & the

causes of European diffusion & its short/long term results.

14) How did the www grow during 600-1750? What were the causes of growth, the impact &/or effects of the growth,

what was exchanged, & what role did the various civilizations play in its growth?

15) Compare/contrast the new world order of 1750 w/ the previous time period. What has changed & stayed the same?

Why did the changes occur? Be specific in your evidence & provide excellent analysis.

16) History is driven by economics, do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? Provide specific evidence & analysis

from this unit to prove your point.

17) Compare & contrast American slavery with one of the following coercive systems of labor - Russian serfdom or the

Spanish encomienda system.

18) Compare & contrast the impact of the Columbian Exchange on the following regions between 1400 & 1750. Be sure

to discuss the causes of the changes as well as reasons for the continuities. Be sure to include an examination of demographic changes/continuities.

23) Choose one of the SPRITE areas and do a C/C essay on the major areas in Unit 3 or Unit 4.
