We received the Auditor General’s report back with no findings, which was good.Act 64 was passed which provides flexible instructional days. This may be considered for the 20-21 school year. This is meant for severe weather and will be looked into for the future. This year’s proposed committee meeting schedules were passed out.Monday Aug 19th, we will be welcoming five new staff members and giving them a bus tour around the school district. Next week we have In-Service days Tues., Wed. and Thurs. with Open House at Dassa 5-7:30pm on Thurs. and Wed. 5-7:30pm at the High School.Dr. Arney noted that the schools are looking good, we have new LED lights, and the floor at Dassa looks great. The fitness center should be finished, around late Aug early Sept. Staff CommunicationMr. Fox provided the 8 classes with enrollment under 11 students and a brief explanation. Mrs. Duke was concerned regarding the policy and a discussion proceeded. Dr. Panza recognizes Mr. Fox’s and Mrs. Schnelle’s hard work getting the schedules ready. A call will go out Tues. to let students know that schedules will be available to see on Skyward Wed. The previous error with schedules being available to see, on Skyward, there were some security issues, that had to be changed. Students will be able to make schedule changes, starting Wed. and continue a week into school. Mr. Thompson stated the kindergarten kids will be in on Wed. for orientation and Mrs. Fox has been working hard on that. The new teachers have already been in visiting the school. Dr. Panza requested the new kindergarten numbers, which will have to be provided later, since Becky just enrolled more today. Mr. Campbell noted the paving in front of the school will start Wed. and should be done by Sat. The waterline should be finished Wed. or Thurs. night. Sealing of the parking lot went well and painting the lines is next. For the Cross Country trail we have built a bridge, repaired one and fixed drainage. Regarding the vandalism, we have not heard anything yet. There was not enough damage to meet the deductible, so we have paid for the damages ourselves. At Dassa we are adding extra gates, which will help prevent anything like that there. The electrical issue at the High School seems to be fixed. There haven’t been any electrocuted birds recently. Next Building & Grounds meeting is 8/13/19 at 4:30pm. Dr. Panza noted some discrepancies and possible conflicts in the school calendar. Mr. Campbell stated that Mrs. Rock, also saw the conflicts, and plans to make a list and contact the parties now, so that they can be resolved. Dr. Panza asked what the process is for Policy #123 going to be. Mrs. McBride discussed various things such as the short term vs. long term and wiping it clean, until it’s better defined. Students can’t be recognized, as it is, that deserved to be. Lastly, Mrs. Duke Thanked All the Prospective Board Members for attending the meeting.
