Job Title:

HR Advisor

Responsible to:

Director of Resources

Main purpose of Job:

To deliver a professional, business partner service to designated curriculum and business support departments within the College. Working as part of a proactive, innovative and responsive HR team to provide pragmatic, creative and business focused HR solutions and recommendations across the College. To build and develop relationships with managers and staff at all levels to provide support and guidance on a range of HR matters and share best practice throughout the College.

Main duties and responsibilities:

? Provide an efficient, effective and customer focussed HR service which supports all aspects of an employee's relationship and engagement with the College including recruitment, terms and conditions of employment, training and development activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and College policies

? Build effective working relationships with staff at all levels, providing advice and guidance on a range of HR policies and HR related issues to support understanding and ensure effective communication of good HR practice

? Build relationships with managers at all levels and develop a good understanding of their work so as to be able to act as a true business partner

? Support relevant HR managers and provide advice on a full range of HR matters, to ensure the effective management of staff to achieve business needs

? Ensure effective monitoring of sickness trends and remedial action in accordance with the College's policy and to facilitate a proactive approach to absence management to ensure a smooth return to work

? Take responsibility for the implementation of all HR policy , ensuring that all HR issues are dealt with within the timescales set out in the procedures of the College

? Engage in promoting and `living' the core values of the College, monitoring employee health and wellbeing and delivering improvements through appropriate and considered employee benefits

? Support the development of strong communication and feedback channels with all staff and through a variety of mechanisms to support employee engagement

? Ensure all data on manual and computerised records is accurate and up to date and provide accurate and timely reports as and when required

General and College Responsibilities

? Participate actively and flexibly in a range of College-wide activities, such as duty rotas, enrolment and marketing events and staff and student activities.

? Participate in training and team development activities, to update knowledge and skills:

? All employees have a general duty in law to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

? Understand and be committed to the College's Health and Safety Policy statement and the College's safety priorities and be aware of his/her contribution to such priorities.

? Be aware of and comply with the health and safety legislation and other College requirements that are relevant to his/her post.

? Demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to promote the principle of equality and diversity in employment and service delivery:

? Be familiar with and promote the Equality and Diversity Policy.

? Be familiar with Safeguarding requirements as outlined in the Safeguarding Policy and comply with its requirements to safeguard and protect the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Qualifications and Experience

? A general level of education at degree or professional level, or the equivalent level of attainment gained through professional experience.

? Human Resource qualified including membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or a commitment to work towards gaining CPP qualification

? A sound understanding of the principles of good HR practice and some knowledge of employment law

? A demonstrable record of success in previous roles ? A working knowledge of computerised HR systems
