|JOB SUMMARY |
| |
|The Nursing Data Analyst in Nursing and Patient Care Services is responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data elements which identify outcomes that maximize |
|safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient centered care. This includes, but is not limited to, the design and implementation of computerized data |
|collection systems, data trending, interpretation and analysis of various nursing and clinical processes. The analysis includes recommendations for process or |
|structural changes to improve the outcomes of care. The Nursing Data Analyst possesses a thorough knowledge of data base management and implements the necessary |
|policies and procedures to maintain appropriate records, reports and analysis. He/she independently prepares written reports and analysis detailing nursing performance|
|and/or practice issues. The incumbent provides technical support in the development and/or management of select databases. This position is also responsible for |
|maintenance and improvement of the Nursing and Patient Care Services scorecards, the department’s primary electronic tool in managing clinical and operational metrics. |

|The incumbent uses the nursing process to assess, identify problems and outcomes, plan, implement, evaluate and analyze data using a clinical focus. In addition, |
|benchmarking data is collected for nursing quality indicators is used to identify quality of care concerns and follows outcome trends for improvement. The position |
|provides support for strategic goals and initiatives, quality improvement projects and research initiatives for Nursing and Patient Care Services and Infection Control.|
|Leadership and participation as a part of teams in the systematic study of practice issues is required. The Nursing Data Analyst also performs research and literature |
|reviews, as needed, to develop recommendations and accurately analyze information. Knowledge of nurse sensitive metrics, nursing practice and health care is required |
|for the effective performance of the position responsibilities. |
|MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES |
| |
|Interpret, synthesize, design and modify reports. |
|Collect, trend and provide analysis for nursing and infection control measures. |
|Maintain, evaluate and improve Nursing Scorecards and dissemination of quality information. |
|Serve as NDNQI Site Coordinator and RN Satisfaction Survey Site Coordinator. |
|Collect, synthesize and trend Magnet Recognition metrics. |
|Collaborate with other disciplines. |
|Provide leadership and direction of to the Nursing Quality and Safety Data team, including oversight of team members. |

|JOB REQUIREMENTS |
|Education |Minimum |Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing. |
| |Preferred |Master’s degree in nursing, business, health care administration or related field |
|Work Experience |Minimum |Three (3) years of clinical experience. |

|Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities |Clinical nursing background and knowledge necessary to interpret/analyze patient outcomes. |

| |Ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects. Highly organized, able to meet time frames for projects.|
| |Working knowledge of multiple software programs used in the analysis of research and quality improvement |
| |clinical outcome studies. |
| |Familiarity with quality improvement theory and the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) thinking. |
| |Knowledge of personal computer, PC data systems, and software applications for data research and analysis. |
| |Ability to rapidly learn new programs as required. |
| |Good communication, problem-solving and organizational abilities. |
| |Ability to work independently and be result oriented. |
| |Capable of interacting with all levels of staff. |
| |Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to promote teamwork and ensure a high degree of internal|
