In efforts to provide the safest environment for our faculty/staff and students to return to our schools after a pandemic event, we are providing the following guidance for those that are at higher risk of severe illness. Please following the guidelines below:DO NOT come to school if you have a fever of 100.4, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, headache.DO NOT come to school if you have been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days.DO NOT come to school if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are still in the 14-day quarantine time experiencing the symptoms listed above.Those that have diagnosed health conditions and/or new-onset health conditions must consult their Primary Care Physician (PCP) as to the safety of returning to school and the health care changes to promote optimal health. Any health conditions along with the health plan modifications by the PCP need to be reported to school administration and the School Nurse before faculty/staff and/or students return to school. Health conditions and health care changes must be reported in writing from the PCP. Specific PCP recommendations and changes to health plan will be implemented on the first day of school return. Collaboration between School Administration, School Nurses, Faculty/Staff, students and parents will be vital to provide an optimal, safe environment for all those present at each school site.The CDC has identified those at higher risk for severe illness response to COVID as including:chronic lung conditions or moderate to severe asthmaserious heart conditionsimmunocompromising conditions - including cancer treatment, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV/AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medicationssevere obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher)diabeteschronic kidney conditions requiring dialysisliver conditionspregnancycertain disabilities (i.e. limited mobility, limited cognitive abilities, communication issues, etc.)Students, within regular education, 504, Self-Contained, and Exceptional Students at higher risk of severe illness in our schools due to special health needs will be identified and monitored routinely for daily health challenges by the School Nurse and/or delegated faculty/staff.
