Responsibilities: As a Section level Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for ISO and IMTE functions, for all the laboratories in Division 38. Responsible for maintaining Pre-OSR’S (Pre Occupational Safety Reviews) and SSS’s (System Safety Survey) for these laboratories. Lead and do follow-up work on all safety walk throughs for section laboratories. Will participate with a team of lab safety coordinators for Division 38, ensuring that all the Division labs meet with all safety requirements. Will be responsible for maintaining lab occupancy records and helping forecast future laboratory needs for section’s project work. Will help maintain property records in laboratories. Will report to the Business Administrator for the Business Administration Group of Section 382 (3812).[pic]

Requirements: Typically requires Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience or Master's degree with 3+ years or equivalent related experience. Working technical knowledge and experience in all aspects of Cal-OSHA Construction Safety Orders and Occupational Safety including, but not limited to: Electrical, fire and life, pressure systems, confined space entry, and related fields. Experience in the review, interpretation and application of Federal and State regulations and nationally recognized building, electrical, and fire codes. Knowledge and experience in the areas of administering safety and health programs, regulatory compliance, and training requirements, occupational health and safety hazards, incident investigation and reporting, and industrial safety. Ability to demonstrate initiative and proactively resolve/prevent problems. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management, personnel and technical activities. Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and motivate a technical group/team with safety and laboratory requirements in accordance with JPL's policies and practices. Proven customer service skills. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

Desired Skills: A strong knowledge of Federal, State and local regulatory compliance requirements, construction site compliance, facilities, and assessments. Proven computer skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel, Project and Visio. Five years or more experience in the application of safety engineering concepts as they apply to technical laboratories which contain various chemicals and lasers. Proven ability to work well with all levels of management. Proven organizational skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment.
