Knowle West Media CentreJOB DESCRIPTIONJOB DETAILSJob Title:Finance ManagerHours:37 hours per weekSalaryGrade 2Location:Knowle West Media CentreAccess:There is wheelchair access.2.JOB PURPOSETo provide financial management and leadership to the organisation and its Trustees3.ACCOUNTABILITY Accountable to the CEO (Line Manager) and KWMC Trustees4.MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESGovernance and strategyTo work in partnership with the Treasurer of KWMC to provide effective governance over the activities of the organisation, including its subsidiariesOwner of the finance policies and procedures; update in partnership with the Treasurer and with agreement of TrusteesTo lead on the organisation’s financial strategy, including long-term financial plans that are linked to the business plan, risk management and reporting To keep up-to-date with relevant legislation and advise Trustees and the CEO on compliance requirements (including Data Protection)To work with the Operations Manager to monitor the charity’s insurance requirementsPlanning, budgeting and forecastingAll aspects of financial management for KWMC working closely with the CEO on the development and delivery of the KWMC Business PlanTo partner with the CEO to develop a long-term sustainable business and financial strategyTo prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for the CEO and Trustees (Board and Finance Committee) To prepare a detailed annual budget and cash flow forecastsProvide monthly budget updates to programme DirectorsTo provide financial training as necessary to other members of staffFinancial control and auditResponsible for the production of the annual report and financial statements including alignment between business performance and financial information All aspects of financial control for the organisation, including financial and administrative policies and proceduresTo oversee the maintenance of accurate accounting records, to include sales ledger and purchase ledger processing and management, payroll processing; VAT returns and register of fixed assets Management of the annual audit including preparing supporting schedules and information and delivering the audit on time and error freeTo ensure that all accounting transactions are recorded in accordance with regulations (including but not limited to Charity SORP, FRS 102, company law)Charity Commission/Companies House/HRMC reporting Management of group accounting including transfer pricing, inter-company arrangements and associated controlsFunding and external reportingFinancial review and approval of major funding bids; offering advice to programme Directors and TrusteesSupporting staff with development of grant proposals and funding applications, including leadership on financial aspects of the proposalsTo provide regular reporting against grant funding and other income streamsTo support formal reporting against funded activity and to arrange third-party auditsAnalyse new commercial ventures, using investment appraisal techniques where appropriateManagement and LeadershipActive member of the KWMC senior management teamManaging relationships with external service providers (banking, audit, IT systems) Management and leadership of the Finance Team (3 staff)Training and development of staff including cross-skillingChampioning continuous improvement in working practice5.KEY RESULT AREASTo form an effective working relationship with the Treasurer to support any governance activities and partnering with the CEO to represent KWMC financial managementTo ensure robust financial planning strategies and management processes are in place to ensure that KWMC is a well-managed and sustainable organisation.To ensure all finance procedures are effective, are sufficiently flexible to fulfil the requirements of a wide range of projects and staff and enable the organisation to run smoothly and efficientlyTo ensure that accurate financial information is available on a timely basis for the Trustees, CEO, funders and project managers to facilitate business planning and efficient management of the organisationConnecting the business to advice and direction provided by professional MUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPSThis role requires the postholder to work with a wide range of stakeholders, from external commercial organisations, colleagues delivering other services within KWMC, and local communities.
