DOWN EAST PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDRENPOSITION:Healthy Kids ManagerREPORTS TO:Research and Development DirectorCLASSIFICATION:Exempt HOURS PER WEEK:40 HoursDATE:________________________________________APPROVED:________________________________________Executive DirectorPRIMARY PURPOSE:Coordinate Healthy Kids Collaborative (HKC) health initiative planning, program development, associated budgets and implementation. Supervise and support Healthy Kids Specialist, Food to Early Education Coordinator, FoodCorps service members and associated contracted staff. Coordinate work with other community and DEPC programs and activities focused on reducing childhood obesity, improving healthy nutrition and physical activity. Advance the work of the HKC through research, assessments and presentations as well as assisting in the development of new initiatives while interacting regularly with numerous stakeholders & policy makers. Provide leadership in program implementation to child care providers, families, partner agencies and the health care community. ABILITIES NEEDED:Strong collaborator & facilitatorAbility to work independently and as part of both an intra- and inter-organizational collaborative Strong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsStrong interpersonal skillsManage multiple tasks from multiple sources and set prioritiesSelf-starterProficient in computer skillsBudgeting skillsWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Three years’ experience in health education, health promotion or other family or community focused serviceStrong understanding of system design, change, and program implementationStrong understanding of child/community health & nutrition issuesGroup facilitation experienceBudgeting experienceGrant writing/grant management experience preferredNon-profit experience preferredESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Healthy Kids CollaborativeCoordinates program development and community planning in the area of reducing childhood obesity, improving healthy nutrition and physical activityCoordinate, manage and sustain work plans/related budgets for HKC, FEED, FoodCorps, and Snap-EdOversees and supports service members in their day-to-day activities including lesson planning, networking, classroom management, etc.Oversees and supports FEED Specialist to modify the food procurement system and adequately prepare childcare providers for resulting changes.Works to influence key policy makers including City Government, Health Departments, and School SystemsEstablishes relationships with target populations to support this work: medical community, families, child care providers, partner agencies and policy makers Recruits community and policy participants for HKC Plans and implements all Healthy Kids Collaborative (HKC) meetings, and planning sessionsSupports the planning and implementation of new funding streams/grants for child health servicesCoordinates with DEPC staff, funded programs and community agencies to increase and/or improve physical activity opportunities & access to healthy foods for children in both countiesCollects and maintains information on physical health ,nutrition, access to healthy foods, and safe places to play for children and familiesSupports and serves on the DEPC Family Resource Committee promoting healthy living and active lifestyle.OtherAttend program staff meetings, DEPC staff, Research & Development meetings and retreats, in or out of town retreat.Interact/serve on other community committees such as Twin Counties Healthy Partnership, Active Living Workgroup, etc.Any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Research & Development DirectorEDUCATION:BA or BS Degree in Human Services, Public Health, or Public Education with a focus on family & community services and/or equivalent combined related experiencePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:While performing this job the employee is:Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hearPeriodically required to stand; walk, stoop, kneelOccasionally required to lift up to 25 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision and the ability to adjust focus to operate the computerThe position also requires the ability to periodically work under time pressure ................
