Directions:

Have students work together or independently to determine how many gallon-sized jugs each student in class would need to have to equal 83 gallons. (For an extra challenge, have students convert any partial gallons to quarts or pints.) For younger students, show them an empty gallon jug (water or milk). Tell them to pretend each student has one. Guide them to determine how many more jugs would be needed to equal 83 of them.
