SPECIFICATIONS FOR KW 2001 SKEWERING MACHINE

LENGTH OF MACHINE = 14'-9" (4.50 METERS) WITH EXTENSION = 21'-3" (6.48 METERS)

WIDTH OF MACHINE = 55" (1.4 METERS)

HEIGHT OF MACHINE = 73" (1.9 METERS)

MACHINE WEIGHT IS APPROXIMATELY 1500 LBS.

ELECTRICAL VOLTAGE IS 220 V. SINGLE PHASE

AMPERAGE = 10 AMPS.

MACHINE INSERTS FOUR (4) SKEWERS PER CYCLE at A MAXIMUM OF 17 CYCLES PER MINUTE.

MACHINE REQUIRES 15 CFM OF DRY PRESSURIZED AIR AT 100-120 PSI.

MACHINE FRAME AND CONVEYOR COMPONENTS.

1. THE MACHINE FRAME WILL BE FABRICATED FROM 1.5" STAINLESS STEEL (TYPE 304) HEAVY WALL TUBING WITH SOLID WELDS. ALL TUBE ENDS WILL BE CAPPED.

2. THE CONVEYOR COMPONENTS WILL BE SUPPORTED AND GUIDED BY FORMED SUPPORT RAILS CAPPED WITH UHMW WEAR STRIP MATERIAL.

3. THE MACHINE DESIGN, MATERIALS AND FABRICATION SHALL MEET THE NORMAL ACCEPTED PRACTICES FOR SANITARY OPERATION IN A MEAT PROCESSING PLANT. THE MACHINE SHALL BE EASY TO CLEAN AND SANITIZE.

4. ACCESS PANELS SHALL COMPLETELY ENCASE THE MACHINE SIDES. THE PANELS ARE REMOVABLE TO ALLOW THE PERFORMANCE OF COMPLETE SANITATION PROCEDURES.

5. THE MACHINE SHALL BE MOUNTED ON FOUR STAINLESS STEEL CASTERS, SWIVEL TYPE, WITH 5" DIA. X 1.5" WIDE USDA APPROVED STAINLESS/PLASTIC WHEELS, WITH LOCKING LEVERS. THE CASTERS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON 1"-8 THREAD ADJUSTABLE MOUNTS.

MACHINE CONTROL PANEL

1. THE MACHINE CONTROL PANEL WILL BE MOUNTED ON THE MACHINE FRAME ON THE OPERATOR SIDE.

2. THE CONTROL PANEL WILL CONTAIN THE ELECTRICAL AND PNEUMATIC DEVICES NECESSARY TO COORDINATE ALL THE MACHINE FUNCTIONS.

3. THE CONTROL PANEL WILL BE A STAINLESS STEEL (TYPE 304) NEMA 4 ELECTRICAL ENCLOSURE. (HOFFMAN "CONCEPT" WITH QUARTER TURN LATCH)ALL PENETRATIONS OF THE ENCLOSURE WILL BE SEALED TO PREVENT WATER ENTRY.

4. THE MACHINE CONTROL PANEL WILL CONTAIN AN ALLEN BRADLEY PROGRAMMABLE CONTROLLER FOR SEQUENCING OF ALL ELECTRICAL AND PNEUMATIC DEVICES.

5. 24-VOLT D.C. CIRCUITS SHALL CONTROL ALL ELECTRICAL DEVICES.

6. THE CONTROL PANEL WILL HAVE AN OPERATOR INTERFACE DEVICE.

7. ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING SHALL BE IDENTIFIED BY WIRE-LABELS. THE NUMBERING SCHEME WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL SCHEMATIC.

8. ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING WILL BE ARRANGED IN A NEAT AND ORDERLY MANNER.

9. ALL PNEUMATIC TUBING WILL BE IDENTIFIED BY LABELS AND WILL CONFORM TO THE PNEUMATIC CONTROL DIAGRAMS.

10. ALL AIR VALVES SHALL BE 24 VOLT DC. SOLENOID OPERATED MANIFOLD MOUNTED PLUG-IN TYPE. EACH VALVE SHALL HAVE A PILOT INDICATOR LIGHT FOR EASE OF MAINTENANCE.

11. ALL AIR-LINE PLUMBING SHALL BE MADE USING NICKEL PLATED BRASS, PUSH TO CONNECT TYPE FITTINGS, AND HIGH TEMPERATURE, PLIABLE NYLON TUBING (FREELAND WADE NATURAL NYLON OR EQUAL).

12. ALL PROXIMITY SWITCHES SHALL HAVE THREADED CORD CONNECTIONS. ALL PROXIMITY SWITCHES SHALL BE OF THE NPN TYPE.

SAFETY CONTROL DEVICES.

1. THE MACHINE WILL HAVE A MAIN AIR VALVE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF OPERATED BY CABLE PULL TYPE SAFETY SWITCH AND OR LIGHT CURTAINS.

2. THE CABLE WILL BE STAINLESS STEEL PLASTIC ENCASED, WITH PROPER SUPPORTS.

3. THE MACHINE PNEUMATIC AND ELECTRICAL POWER WILL NOT REAPPLY UNTIL A RESET BUTTON IS ACTIVATED.

4. THE INSERTION DEVICE AREA IS PROTECTED BY HAND MODE LIGHT CURTAINS, WHICH DEACTIVATE THE AIR AND ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE MOVING POWER COMPONENTS OF THE MACHINE.

FEED CONVEYOR FOR SKEWERS AND PRODUCT

1. SKEWER CONVEYOR FLIGHTS WILL BE SIZED TO PICK UP BULK 3.2mm (.126 INCH) DIAMETER BY 76mm (3 INCH) UP TO 254mm (10 INCH) LONG SKEWERS, POINTED OR SEMI POINTED. NORMAL STICK TOLERANCES OF MINUS .2mm SHALL BE ACCEPTABLE. 3.2mm DIA. SKEWERS WILL GIVE MAXIMUM INSERTION FORCE.

2. THE SKEWER CONVEYOR WILL INDEX 4 SKEWERS PER CYCLE ACCURATELY.

3. THE SKEWER CONVEYOR CHAIN WILL BE #40 EXTENDED PITCH STAINLESS STEEL WITH K1 ATTACHMENTS ON 2" CENTERS.

4. THE SKEWER CONVEYOR FLIGHTS WILL BE FROM DELRIN MATERIAL.

5. THE INDEXING OF THE SKEWER AND MOLD CONVEYOR WILL BE CONTROLLED WITH A STEPPER INDEXER DRIVER AND STEPPER MOTOR DRIVING THRU A 20:1 PLANETARY GEAR REDUCTION.

6. THE PRODUCT MOLD CONVEYOR WILL CONSIST OF SPECIAL SHAPED DELRIN MOLD ATTACHED TO #80 EXTENDED PITCH STAINLESS STEEL CHAIN ON 2.00" CENTERS. THE PRODUCT MOLD SHALL BE AS SPECIFIED BY CONSULTATION WITH THE CUSTOMER.

7. THE PRODUCT MOLD WILL BE EASILY EXCHANGED TO ACCOMMODATE DIFFERENT FOOD PRODUCTS BY SNAP-ON/SNAP-OFF DESIGN.

LOADING AND SKEWERING OF PRODUCT

1. OPERATORS HAND LOAD THE FOOD PRODUCT INTO THE SPECIAL SHAPED MOLD. THIS MOLD IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR EACH PARTICULAR PRODUCT. ONE SET OF SPECIALTY MOLDS IS INCLUDED WITH THE MACHINE. ADDITIONAL SETS OF MOLDS MAY BE PURCHASED FOR THE PRODUCTION OF OTHER PRODUCTS. THESE ARE EASILY CHANGED 0N THE MACHINE IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES.
