The theme for the festival is Shops, Docks and Factories – Newham’s Urban Heritage, chosen to shine a light on the industry, innovation and creativity of Newham residents to meet the needs of our changing lifestyle. We want to see projects that respond to the cultural diversity of our borough by including a broad range of people involved in the project and offer exciting ways for audiences to learn more about Newham’s rich heritage.There are grants available of up to ?7,000 for organisations and up to ?5,000 for individuals.You will need to submit this form by 5pm on Monday 30 November 2020. We will not be able to consider late application forms. Please return this application form to communitygrants@.uk. Conditions of the Community Grant The project activity or event must be targeted at Newham and bring direct benefit to the borough’s residents.The Community Grant must only be used for the purposes set out in the application form or approval correspondence, unless changes are agreed by the Council in writing.The project or event organisers shall not use any part of the Community Grant to support any political party or to engage in publicity, which could reasonably be regarded as designed to affect support for a political party.The Community Grant may not be used to promote any religion or for religious activity.The Community Grant may not be used for the purchase of alcohol.The Community Grant may not be used to subsidise fundraising activities.The Community Grant must be spent and accounted for, within eight weeks of completion of the project activity, and submitted with other required project monitoring information.Individual items of equipment purchased with the Community Grant with a value exceeding ?500 must be insured and shall become the property of Newham Council if the project or group folds within two years of receiving the award.The Community Grant cannot be used for expenditure made before the date of your grant offer notification.Proper and appropriate financial and accounting records must be maintained.If the applicant owes an outstanding debt to the Council, which is unrelated to the Community Grant, the Council will not pay grant funding until such time as the entire debt has been cleared.If the applicant has failed to submit the required monitoring information from previous Council funding, the Council will not consider any new application until this has been rectified.All project literature should include the Newham Heritage Month brand, as well as the partner brands, as appropriate.A Newham Heritage Month representative will be assigned to the funded project to provide liaison as necessary. This representative must be kept informed of the progress of the project.Monitoring information must be provided as specified in the Community Grant offer notification and access given to the project at all reasonable times in order that a Newham Heritage Month representative may provide development support and carry out monitoring and evaluation duties as appropriate.The project must be inclusive of all sections of the Newham community and operate good practice in equal opportunities.The project organisers must comply with all legal requirements in relation to employment, insurance, health and safety, child and vulnerable adult protection, service delivery, premises and other relevant matters.No member of the organising group or management committee shall receive payment for services from this grant.Funded projects will be expected to share information on their activities, outcomes and achievements, as and when required by the Council. ................
