This is a Public letter that I found in a small town paper in Northern Oakland county the paper is the Community Voice (Holly) I just thought that we the voters should know this story...

A signed statement from Susan Pierce Whitkopf questions the integrity and the ethics of Kelly Kostin's abililty to be a judge. Shie is completely flummoxed that Kelly Kostin even has a chance at becoming a judge. Susan is the sister of Bob Kostin's late wife, Judie Kostin. In her statment she beleaves that the death of her sister was suspicious and that Kelly Kostin and her husband Bib Kostin handle the death of Judie Kostin with no regard to Susan's extended family. Judie Kostin was found dead in September 18,1989 from an apparent suicide by the Kostin's gardener. The gardener heard engines and forced open a side door, opened the garage door and found Judie Kostin's body on the floor of the garage. Whitkopf's claims that Bob Kostin notified her husband that Judie has passed away and that he would call back with the details. However, Bob Kostin never called back with details and all attempts to contact him failed. To this day,Whitkopf doesn't know if Bob had a memorial service or ran an obituary for her sister. All that she knows is that Bob Kostin had the late Judie Kostin cremated the very next day. During the initial investigaton by the White lake police department, they found a black hose running from the tail pipe of their Suburban routed into the interior of the Suburban on the drivers side. However Judie's body was found outside of the vehicle. Other observations included a large pot filled with bricks placed against the partially opened service door leading into the garage from the outside. Clothing was found near the door entering the home and the other vehicle in the garage was loaded with ehat appeared to be luggage and other items. In the home, police found an apparent suicide note by the phone and an empty wine bottle in the trash compactor. Back in the garage, police noted that the victim was laying face down clad only in panties and a bra and that her head was lying in a refrigerator tray.An ice bucket was also near the victim's head with the lid to the budket in the ice tray. Police also found a partially filled bottle near the victims with the contents labeled as poisonous. The victim was also lying on top of what appeared to be blankets as well as a brick against her back. A second brick was found near or under the victim's left shoulder. On the other side of the victim, police found a can of liquis tire inflator with the hose to the can a short distance away. At the scene, police did not find any noticeable signs violence on the victim's body. Upon arrival, Mr Kostin was interviewed by police and stated that he and Judie had been having marital problems and had decided to get a divorce because they had grown apart. Mr.Kostin also stated that he began seeing another woman,Kelly Ott(Kostin),about a month prior. He also stated taht he had told his wife about Kelly Ott and felt that she was strong enough to handle it. Mr. Kostin stated that his wife had never attempted or discussed taking her own life but had been taking Xanax recently, which he presumed was for depression over their sepraration. Mr Kostin was asked where he had been between the time he left his wihe on Sunday and the morning of her death. Mr Kostin stated that he had been with his lady friend,Kelly Ott, who was a clerk for a judge in Circuit court. The medical examination report did not reveal any violence to the victim's body but drug screening did reveal that the victim had antihistamine, benzodiazepine and methaqualone in her system, which collaborates Bob Kostin's statement about his wife taking medication for depession. Whitkopf's statement questions why Mr. Kostin had Judie's body cremated the very next day and why there was no memorail service held for family members. Eventually, one of Whitkopf's friends was at the Kostin home the next day and said that Kelly Ott was there. All Mr. Kostin wanted to talk about was Kelly, not Judie. When Whitkopf asked for the police report, suicide note and pictures, she was told that it was all gone when she

inquired further, she was told that there was nothing here. Through perserverance, Whitkopf received a police report and a medical examination report. However, after reading the reports it only raised more questions of the suspicious nature of her sister's death. She believes that after a suicide, detectives would have asked more questions and would not allowed the cremation the very next day, especially after he revealed he was seeing another woman. Whitkopf also questions the integrity of Kelly Ott (Kostin). In 1990 Bob and Kelly Ott went on a bi-annual family vacation paid for by Whitkopf's aunt. She claims the Bob and Kelly also seemed to enjoy providing the entire family with constant displays of effection like two teenagers in heat. But what bothered her worse was the Kelly Ott wore a shirt that said, "It Ain't Easy Being Sleazy". Later Whitkopf confronted Kelly and told her that the shirt she wore was apropos and asked her why she deemed it necesary to use her deceased sister's luggage. Kelly shared that confrontation with Bob Kostin and he grabbed Whitkopf and started yelling at her. Whitkopf's husband and son-in-law rushed to her aide. During this confrontation, Whitkopf proclaimed that he was directly or indirectly responsible for Judie Kostin's death. Bob coldly replied that she is going to regret saying that. During a phone interveiw with Whitkopf, she claims questions still remain unanswered. Why and how was her sister's body able to be cremated the very next day? If her sister was trying to commit suicide why was her body found outside of the truck and why was she undressed. Through her perseverance and South Eastern Criminal Investigation Division reopened the case. Inspector Ellis Stafford confirmed with the Community Voice that the case was reopened that the best people from their Organized Crime Unit and currently investigating the case. He also stated that the White Lake Police Department has been truly helpful and completly cooperative. Overall, Whitkopf's statement questions the integrity of Kelly Kostin and wonders how such a person could even be considered for a seat as a judge.
