7.1 SYSTEMS INTERFACE FACILITY

7.1.1 Description

This system interface facility consists of additional PCB components which are factory fitted, together with a chassis-mounted 15-way `D' Connector that is part of a cable assembly. The complete option is fitted as standard to the PRM8030 transceiver.

The cable assembly complete with `D' Connector may be obtained as a spare part under code number 9525 001 00015.

7.1.2 Specification

The connection and interface specification is detailed in paragraph 7.1.3 overleaf.

Socket SK204 refers to the 15-way `D' Connector accessible from the rear of the transceiver unit.

Socket SK203 refers to the interface of the cable assembly and the system printed circuit board; this connection is only accessible from within the unit, and is made via a 20 way DIL socket.

Socket SK205 refers to the PRM80 remote expansion socket. This socket is accessible on the system PCB and is provided in the form of a 10 pin micromatch socket.

SK204 SK203 FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

Pin No Pin No

Pin 1 20 13.8V

Pin 2 19 + 9V + 9V regulated, switched.

Max. current 30mA.

Pin 3 18 Ground

Pin 4 17 Mic. AF Input impedance = 470 ohm.(Local)

Sensitivity 40mVrms at 1kHz for 60% deviation.

high impedance (Remote)

Biassed at +9V.(Local only)

Option for 5mVrms. sensitivity available.

Pin 5 16 Ground

Pin 6 15 Tx audio input Input impedance = 22k ohm.

This input is post clipper, ac-coupled.

Sensitivity 200mVrms at 1kHz for 60% deviation.

Pin 7 14 Mic. mute Input impedance = 220k ohm.

Greater than + 4Vdc will mute Mic. AF.

Less than 0.3Vdc to unmute.

Pin 8 13 PTT This input is pulled up to + 5.2V via 10k resistor.

Grounding this point to less than 0.5Vdc will

enable PTT mode.

Above 3.5Vdc to disable PTT.

Pin 9 1 Rx FM out This output is direct coupled via 10k resistor to

unde-emphasised, unmuted audio.

550mVrms for 1kHz/60% Dev. Rx signal.

DC output = 4.2V.

Pin 10 2 Pre vol.audio This output is post Rx AF processing

and is subject to mute. AF level is

550mVrms for 1kHz/60% Dev Rx signal,

ac-coupled. This level is not affected by

volume control.

Source impedance = 470 ohm.

Pin 11 3 Rx mute out This output is an open collector pull-down.

Active low indicates Rx mute is active.

Current sink less than 20mA.

Pin 12 4 Alarm In Internal pull-up via 10k to + 5V.

Alarm active condition software

configurable. Low V 3.5V.

Pin 13 5 Alarm Out Open collector pull-down.

Maximum current sink 200mA.

Pin 14 6 Speaker Mute Internal pull-up to + 9V.

Grounding to less than 2.0Vdc will set AF PA

into Standby state.

Control voltage in range 3.3V to 6.4Vdc will

mute AF PA.

Control voltage above 8.5Vdc enables AF PA.

Pin 15 7 Speaker AF Out Is ac-coupled via 56K resistor to receiver

AF PA output.

SK203 FUNCTION DESCRIPTIONPIN No

8 Option control Active low + 5Vdc Logic output.

Under software control a user defined front

panel button will toggle this output.

logic

10 1MHz clock 1MHz clock source 5Vp-p

The 1MHz frequncy is shifted by approximately

500ppm on certain receiver channels.

Output is capable of driving a low capacitance

load, less than 30p.

11 Rx Data 5V logic programming input.

Connected to a +5V2 via 5k7 pull-up resistor.

Logic low less than 0.5V dc,

Logic high above 3.5V dc.

12 Tx Data 5V logic programming output.

Connected to a +5V2 via 5k7 pull-up resistor.

Logic low less than 0.5V dc,

Logic high above 3.5V dc.

SK205 is the PRM80 remote expansion connector, which provides further signals suitable for systems applications.

Pin no Description/Function

PIN 1 Cradle - Hookswitch

Internal pull up to +5.2VDC via 47kohm.

Grounding with less than 0.5V dc will signify microphone on hook condition.

Above 3.5 volts will disable hookswitch.

This cradle line is used as an additional input to supplement the serial control message

sent by the remote control unit. If either this line is low or a serial Mic on hook command

is recieved will signify mic on hook state.

PIN2 +5V2 switched

Voltage supply switched and unswitched - can be externally regulated. +5.2 Volt supply
