Emily Haite said the LSC will then choose someone (a candidate) to fill the vacant seat.?6. Reports:?Principal - (see attached link) Mr. Tennison is conscientious of screen time and homework load. Teachers are well meaning, and this is a big adjustment.?PPLC – Katie Gomez – Held the election. Process of ordering books called Grading for Equity by Joe Feldman. Next meeting is on October 20.?Symbol Naming Committee – Emily Haite, Maureen George and Billy Cashman. Going to put together a committee of about ten people. Three LSC’s, alums (Michelle Weiner), admin and students to address this.?Friends of Lane – Not available?Alumni Association – Michelle Weiner.?Scholarship season awarding 181K to thirty-one students.Over the summer installed the new Vietnam Memorial in the Memorial Garden at Lane, honoring two Lane alumni killed and missing. Hoping to hold a virtual memorial in the near future.?Launched the 11th teacher Grant Program. Curious about the applications, because of the current environment.The Alumni Association (10th year) awarded to date about 260 thousand dollars. Going back to the senior scholarship program, it reached a cumulative 2.2 million dollars.?Virtual Rosehill Cemetery Tour (10/16/20)- with a special stop, where rest, the school’s namesake, Grannis-Lane family plot.The 2021 will bookend two major projects that celebrate our history and heritage, gender and racial equity. Are excited to announce the first female admitted to Lane, 50th anniversary. The Lane football field will be named after Frederick “Fritz” Pollard. He was the first black quarterback and a 1912 graduate who later became an NFL coach. Pollard was originally a half-back, he became the first African-American and second Native-American head coach in 1921 of the Akron Pros, still playing half-back for the team, and became the first African-American and first Native-American quarterback in 1923 with the Hammond Pros. We put together a presentation that tells of his amazing accomplishments. Will send it to Emily Haite to share.??7. New Business:??Check Approvals – Jill Woods (Budget). One purchase order for (re)approval with the minutes from the January 16, 2020 meeting. Follet education - $47,632.85 novels for all English classes. CPS had a clerical error and cleared the PO.
