We will attempt to have brackets available for coaches to view by Wednesday, January 23RD.

Seeding procedures (Lake County Guidelines)

The host school will seed the tournament. Six wrestlers will be seeded in each weight class, with all other wrestlers being randomly drawn into the bracket. Byes will go to the highest seeded wrestlers in declining order. If there are more than 6 byes, they will be randomly drawn into the bracket, ensuring the byes are balanced throughout the bracket.

a. Seeds are final once determined, with the exception if a higher seeded athlete is withdrawn from the tournament, lower seeded athletes will move up to replace the higher seed that withdrew.

b. As long as there are 4 seeds remaining in a bracket, brackets will not be reseeded. If there are less than 4 seeds in a bracket due to withdraws, there will be wrestlers recognized until there are 4 seeds in a bracket. This will occur at the coaches meeting after Friday weigh-ins.

c. If after the process of seeds moving up or determining if withdrawn wrestlers are replaced by the school, the brackets are unbalance with regards to byes, the non seeded wrestlers will be redrawn randomly into the bracket.

d. Criteria to be used by the host schools for seeding (we will look at IWCOA rankings to find 3-8):

1. Head to Head (first)

2. Common Opponents (second)

3. Returning state champion at the same weight (consideration)

4. Returning state champion at a different weight (consideration)

5. Returning state medalist at the same weight (consideration)

6. Returning state medalist at a different weight (consideration)

7. Returning state qualifier at the same weight (consideration)

8. Returning state qualifier at a different weight (consideration)
