Teacher Philosophy: Every individual has the ability to learn. As teachers we must identify the individual need and modify accordingly.

Course Description:  This class is designed for the self-contained special education student who functions significally below average in all subject areas. It provides instruction in independent living for everyday . It also exposes students to the general education curriculum by providing instruction in language arts, math, social studies, and science. The pace, level of material and instruction depend on the individual student.     

Course Prerequisites: N/A

GPS Standards: Students will have access to the general curriculum in the following domains: English/Language, Math, Science, and Social studies.

Programs, these courses are exempted from and/or may make modifications to the system-wide grading percentages.

However, the approved syllabi template established by the DeKalb County School System will be used.

Required Materials: DLM Functional Signs, DLM Survival Signs, Know Your World, Mathematics Around US, Money Makes Sense, Menu Math, Edmark Functional Reading, Clock Works, and Money Works. Teacher made material will also be used to enhance learning.

Classroom Expectations: Students are expected to follow school wide procedures and rules.
