Fall 2017

Dear High School Personnel,

Thank you for inquiring about our Jumpstart Concurrent Enrollment Program. Since 2007, the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) has been working with the Jumpstart Program in the state of Nevada to offer junior and senior high school students the opportunity to "Jumpstart" their college pathway. Our focus is to provide students with rigorous academic courses taught by CSN qualified high school instructors who teach the courses in their familiar high school environment.

By enrolling in our Jumpstart Concurrent Enrollment Program, junior and senior high school students can enroll in a maximum of four (4) concurrent courses at their high school each semester (fall & spring) for a reduced fee and earn college credit and high school credit simultaneously for collegiate-level courses. Our concurrent enrollment high school instructors are approved and trained by CSN to use CSN's curriculum, texts, assessment, and grading scales to ensure curriculum alignment with the college course. The purchase of the required CSN approved textbooks is the sole responsibility of each high school to lent to students each semester.

To get started, qualified high school instructors are encouraged to gather the required academic credentials and contact our office to meet with a Jumpstart staff to review and discuss the program's objectives. Due no later than April 15, 2018: (for courses offered in the following fall semester)

Once the high school instructor has been approved by their respective CSN department chair, the Jumpstart Office will work closely with the high school to recruit students and develop the college courses. For your perusal, I've enclosed informative Jumpstart materials to better assist you in getting started.

Feel free to contact our office if you should have any questions.

Respectfully, Nora Mirabal
