Please use the North Entrance for entry and exit from the building for Summer Academy.**Exiting 8th grade students (incoming 9th grade) may register for our “Transition to Algebra” course. See the Middle School offerings for more information. This course runs from July 29-August 16.Tuition/Fees and Payment/RefundsAll fees are listed by the course description. Tuition assistance may be available for students that meet specific academic requirements for some courses.Registrations must be accompanied by a check, money order or credit card # for the full amount of each class fee. No student will be allowed to attend a class until full payment has been made.Checks should be made payable to the Waterford School District. Requests for refunds will not be accepted after class begins. A request for a refund must be made in writing to the Summer Academy Office at Durant High School. A service fee of $25 is charged for all refunds except where classes are cancelled. For students who are only enrolling for the second session which begins on July 10, registration for that session closes on the first day of that session, July 10.Attendance PolicyStudents are required to report to the computer lab every day we are in session. Students who complete their course early will not be required to continue to attend. Parents will be notified when a student has completed a course. Students who are absent or who fall behind will be required to do additional online work from home in order to complete their work by the session deadline.Credit ReportingNon-Waterford residents are responsible for reporting credit status to their home school. Waterford students’ credits will be reported to the home school. Report cards will be available through the MISTAR Parent Portal. They will not be mailed home unless requested. Credit is awarded for a final grade of 70% (C) or better. Code of ConductStudent behavior must be in compliance with the Waterford Schools Code of Conduct. Students are expected to attend lab each day. Due to the short time period of each session and intensive nature of the online curriculum, appropriate behavior is expected at all times. Students who interfere with the learning process will be removed from the lab. Suspension for disciplinary reasons may result in being dropped from the lab and losing credit. Refunds will not be made for disciplinary situations.HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER ACADEMYThe Summer Academy program offers the following courses for credit to students who have completed grades 9–12. Check your High School Course Catalog for course descriptions. The High School Course Catalog is available on the district website at waterford.k12.mi.us under Current Students or Parents. Unless indicated otherwise, courses are intended for credit recovery only. Schedule of Days and Times: There will be a morning session and an afternoon session with lunch provided in between sessions. Students may enroll for either the morning session, afternoon session or both. The classes are computer-based with a certified teacher mentor. The learning goals, assignments and tests will be completed on the computer. Courses are taken at the Durant Computer Lab and must be completed by the end of Summer Academy on July 25. No extensions will be granted. Students who wish to withdraw from an online course must do so by July 15 to avoid the class appearing on their transcript. Students who withdraw after a course has begun will not be issued a refund.
