FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 10, 2011

Seven students from the Wappingers Central School District have been selected to perform in various 2011 All-State Ensembles at the New York State School Music Association Conference.

These young musicians, students at John Jay and Roy C. Ketcham High Schools, were selected for membership in the All-State Mixed Chorus, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, or Women’s Chorus.

According to André H. Poprilo, District Coordinator of the Fine & Performing Arts/Second Language Department, thousands of students, across the state, auditioned last spring in solo evaluation festivals. Mr. Poprilo indicated that our students’ selection is a very exclusive honor. “This is a testament to the hard work of these students and to the dedicated teachers in our district music program. Our program continues to flourish through the support of our WCSD Board of Education and our district and building administrative team,” he said.

The following students are to be congratulated for receiving this honor:

Lindsey Chew Roy C. Ketcham High School

Sam Eisenbaum John Jay High School

Zhengjia Jiang John Jay High School

Charles Knight Roy C. Ketcham High School

AJ Nandi John Jay High School

Bryan O’Hearon Roy C. Ketcham High School

Chelsea Pagano John Jay High School

The NYSSMA All-State Conference will be held in Rochester, New York, from December 1 through December 4, 2011.
