SENATE RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. HENRY GRAY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF INVALUABLE SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF ARKANSAS AND WISHING HIM MANY YEARS OF HEALTHY AND HAPPY RETIREMENT.

WHEREAS, Mr. Henry Gray, Director of the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, retired on December 31, 1987; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Gray has served the people of Arkansas for 35 years, 10 years with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and 25 years with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Gray served as Director of the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department almost 15 years, which is longer than any other person has held that position in the history of the Department; and

WHEREAS, while Director of the Highway and Transportation Department, Mr. Gray held many positions of honor and trust including President of both the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Chairman of the Public Affairs subcommittee for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Chairman of the National Conference of State Railway Officials, and many others; and

WHEREAS, during his service as Director of the Department, Mr. Gray has been instrumental in the passage of most of the legislation designed to authorize and fund various programs for improvement and expansion of the Arkansas highway system; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Henry Gray has been a truly dedicated public servant and it is appropriate that he be publicly commended for his many years of invaluable service to the people of this State, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE THIRD EXTRAORDINARY SESSION OF THE SEVENTY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

The Senate and individual members of the Senate hereby commend Mr. Henry Gray for his many years of invaluable public service to the state of Arkansas and the people of the state and wish him many years of healthy and happy

retirement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon adoption of this Resolution, an

appropriate copy hereof shall be transmitted to Mr. Henry Gray.
