Lesson Planning Day by Day:

Day 1 : Enter class with Renaissance music playing

- What do you know/think you know about the Renaissance exercise ?

- Introduction to the Renaissance – Video clip “Marie Antoinette”, PowerPoint with videos and music

- Learn about Renaissance dances in general

Day 2 : Separate into groups

- Break into groups

- History classes – Research social etiquette and historical figures of the time

- Dance classes – Research dances from Renaissance and historical dance figures

- Teachers gather resources with librarian’s help

Day 3 : Same as Day 2 – continue research

Day 4 : Same as Day 2 – continue research

Day 5 : Combined classes

- History groups teach dance groups about social history and historical figures

- Dance groups teach the dances to the other groups; review historical dance figures

Day 6 : Same as Day 5

Day 7 : Same as Day 5

Day 8 : Renaissance Ball!!

- Meet and Greet – Students dress as historical figures (Borrow costumes from theatre department) and are introduced to group by “press agents” and other students ask questions

- Perform Dances – Led by King and Queen

Day 9 : Field trip to the Renaissance Festival

- Complete scavenger hunt while at festival

- Possibly perform at festival
