PACKAGE #4 - COWBOYS, CULTURE and HISTORY!

Full Day Tour

Approx Times 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.From Fort Worth Convention Center; return to convention center.

This will be offered the following days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Today spend time exploring the cities of which it has been said, "Fort Worth is where the West begins and Dallas is where the East peters out!"   First of all, we will stop and see Southwestern works of Remington and Russell in the Sid Richardson Collection (Cowboys and Indians, of course!) as well as visit the 150 Years of Fort Worth (a fun, short stop that gives you a fun view of the history of this wonderful town!)  Then we will drive through the museum area with a focus on the Kimball which is known, not just for its Old World collection, but for the many architectural awards given it when opened.  See also the great Tadao Ando Modern Museum and the Amon Carter (the fella' who left about 75 million to endow this museum but never set a foot inside one himself!!)  Next it’s off to the old Wild West Stockyards which is on the National Register of Historical Places. This is a place where you can have your picture made on a real live saddle as you cozy up to the real live bar or shop for t-shirts for the kids back home!   Might even see some slow-movin' ol' longhorns in a cattle drive!!  And you will have a few minutes to grab a bite of lunch, on your own, to keep your energy up and goin' for this fun day!  This whole experience will help orient you to how it felt to be a cowpoke (as well as a cattle rustler) in the days of old!

Then it’s off to Big D--Dallas!  Thirty miles due East of Fort Worth!  You will see the Kennedy memorial and assassination sight (with a tour of the area explaining the layout of the motorcade, witnesses, etc.) as well as visit The Sixth Floor Exhibit, which is a pictorial historium of the life and legacy of the President. You will also see these landmarks: the Arts District, which houses our art museum and the jewel of our city, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center; Pioneer Plaza (think longhorns and cowboys); I.M. Pei City Hall (think Lourve in Paris!); Thanksgiving Square; the original Neiman-Marcus, and Historical Square where our first log cabin has stood since 1841.

The stories and tales of how we were born and have thrived will be most enjoyable to you. Seeing any one of these sights would be a pleasure, but today you can visit them all! Laugh AND learn all at the same time!

Cost:    It is $75.00 per person (includes all gratuities, taxes and admissions). This includes a fun and professional local tour guide.

This tour has a minimum amount of people per day that must be met in order to go. If this number is not reached the tour may be revised.

Space may be limited so first come, first served.
