There is no direct, online application possible.PURDUE COLLEGES NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM:Exchange students cannot take courses in the College of Education, the School of Nursing, the Doctorate of Pharmacy program* or the College of Veterinary Medicine. Graduate-level courses (numbers above 49999) can be taken ONLY by students who’ve been admitted to Purdue as graduate students. *Exchange students can take Purdue courses in Pharmaceutical Sciences.OFFICIAL TERM DATES: Academic Year 2015-16Fall semester: 24 August – 19 December 2015 Spring semester: 11 January –7 May 2016examinations are during the last week of each semester; examinations are given only once.EXPECTED ARRIVAL DATE: Arrival dates usually depend on whether students have been admitted to Purdue as undergraduate or graduate students. Exchange students need to arrive in time to attend an intake appointment with the international office. ORIENTATION PERIOD:Fall 2015: 17-21 August 2015 Spring 2016: 4-8 January 2016APPLICATIONS DEADLINE: Fall 2015 and 2015-16 academic year: 15 March 2015 Spring 2016: 1 October 2015HEALTH INSURANCE: Exchange Students are required to either purchase international student insurance or apply for a waiver. See the following link for complete information about insurance: .HOUSING:Exchange students can apply for on-campus housing after they have been admitted and assigned a Purdue University ID number, user name and password. Instructions for reserving campus housing will be sent to students upon admission. The Study Abroad Office is not able to reserve rooms in advance or make room reservations for students. Exchange students also have the option of living off campus. APPROXIMATE COSTS (per semester, in US Dollars): Living Expenses (housing, meals, health insurance, local transportation): US $7,185 per semesterThis amount is subject to change. The new amount is usually announced in January for the following academic year.Books and class reading materials: US $750 per semesterTuition and fees are waivedLEARNING EXPECTATIONS:CLASS FORMAT: Lectures, seminars or laboratory sessions.ATTENDANCE: Class attendance is mandatory.PARTICIPATION: Class participation is part of a student’s final grade in most courses.GRADING: all grading policies are determined by the course professor; there is no university policy for how students are graded. A professor’s grading policy is usually included with the course syllabus.CLASS SIZE: varies from 10 to 300, depending on level and type of courseCOURSE LOAD: exchange students must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours, which is usually four courses because most courses carry 3 credit hours; maximum is 5 courses or 15 credit hoursCOURSE CHOICES: Exchange students have the same freedom in course selections as regular students do. They can take whatever courses offered by the university as long as they can meet the prerequisite requirements of the courses and that there are vacancies available in those courses. EXAMINATIONS: Format of exams varies. Final examinations are written in the last week of the semester. Students have the responsibility to stay at Purdue University until they have completed all examinations.AREAS OF CONCENTRATION / MAJORS:This exchange program is open to students in most fields; courses in aviation technology, elementary education and health sciences are usually not open to students who are not majors in these fields. The list of majors can be found at the following URL: LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION: English; some non-credit courses in English language instruction availablePROOF OF LANGUAGE ABILITY: TOEFL (iBT = 79) or IELTS (6.5 or higher); unofficial score reports are accepted. See the following website for more details about minimum scores, etc.: STUDENT SERVICES AVAILABLE:Academic AdvisingAll exchange students are assigned to an academic advisor in their major department who will assist them with choosing courses. Each student is informed of the name and email address of her/his advisor in the official letter admission letter.International Students Service (ISS)ISS handles all visa applications and visa matters for all international students at Purdue, both exchange students and degree-seeking students. This office also organizes the required international student orientation at the beginning of each semester as well as activities throughout the academic year. Computer ServicesEach student is given an e-mail account after she/he has been admitted. Computer facilities are easily accessible and most of the campus has wireless internet access.On-campus facilitiesExchange students will obtain a student identity card during international student orientation. This card provides access to facilities on campus such as the Purdue University Student Health center (PUSH), all libraries, recreation centers and local bus service. ................
