TALKING POINTS

ALOHA UNITED WAY

For nearly 100 years, Aloha United Way has helped change millions of lives through the caring power of our community.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT We support 231 partner agencies and 111 Neighbor Island agencies. We receive gifts from nearly 80,000 individual and corporate donors; work with thousands of volunteers; and together with our partner agencies, we help to provide services to the members of our community. Aloha United Way passes through 100% of every designated dollar.

PUBLIC AWARENESS Thanks to the community, we have been able to build public awareness about our island's most pressing issues ? EDUCATION and POVERTY PREVENTION - and are beginning to work on long-term solutions to these problems while still providing a SAFETY NET for the most in need in our community.

ALOHA UNITED WAY PROGRAMS

211 INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICE 211 is a free, confidential service offered statewide for people who need help. Last year, we connected the community with over 3,540 government, nonprofit organizations and human service agencies. We received over 23,775 calls, which resulted in over 30,000 referrals. Our 211 website handled over 45,000 searches for help.

GET CONNECTED/GIFTS-IN-KIND Get Connected/Gifts-In-Kind provides the community with volunteer opportunities and connects "gently used" items with nonprofit organizations and the most in need. Last year, we connected 300 nonprofit organizations to potential volunteers and were able to donate over $195,000 in gifts-in-kind.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

EDUCATION Aloha United Way is creating a comprehensive approach to education that spans from cradle to career.

POVERTY PREVENTION Aloha United Way is helping individuals/families build assets and become financially sound through proven methods that result in everyone having more opportunity to succeed.

SAFETY NET Our Safety Net Impact area provides services to those in our community experiencing crisis or emergencies.

BECOME A LEADERSHIP GIVER

For just $3 a day, (or for just $40* per payroll deduction), you too can become a Leadership Giver.

? MAKE AN IMPRESSION. Your contributions never go unnoticed. With your permission, you will be recognized as a Leadership Giver in our annual report where, as a member of a select group of Aloha United Way supporters, your contribution will inspire others.

? MAKE A CHANGE. Know that you are part of the solution, creating real and lasting change. Your Leadership Gift to Aloha United Way helps us establish building blocks in our community to break the cycle of poverty in families, allow our kupuna to age in place gracefully, and provide our keiki with the best possible opportunity to succeed in school and in life.

? MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We are committed to ensuring your gift reaches those who need it most. Over 100 community volunteers each year help us to assess community needs and ensure your dollars are well invested for the greatest benefit.

? RECEIVE A DEDUCTION. All gifts to Aloha United Way are tax-deductible. *dollar amount based on 26 payroll periods annually
