REPORT OF 2019 SPRING EVENTSEaster holiday report. We enjoyed a full programme of events thanks to everyone who came to the working party to get out all the jumps from the barn. We all enjoyed a, well earned, bacon butty afterwards. Both mounted and unmounted rallies were well attended. The two-day course was enjoyed by all. We were very lucky again this year as Peter Rivett kindly allowed us to use the Ebbisham Farm cross country course. Many thanks to Jane Wood for organising the rallies and two day course so well. Easter Egg Hunt day was great fun again. Many thanks to Georgie and Adrian Heath for organising it for us, and to everyone who helped on the day. Every child went home with a least one egg, most had considerably more. Achievement badge testing was busy. Many thanks to Sarah Howlett and her family for organising this. Most candidates at E, D, D+ and C testing passed. Well done everyone. The Dressage day was very well received with enthusiastic members learning all about dressage from very experienced coaches.Mini/Novice Hunter Trial. . Thank you to Claire Clare for organising such an enjoyable event. A big thank you to all her family and everyone who helped make the day such a success. The courses rode well with all our younger members showing much skill and courage. Results on web site.Mounted Games Competition was sadly cancelled this year because of low entries. Eventer’s Challenge was a very successful and happy event with loads of amazing prizes for the successful competitors. A huge thank you to Keeley Hesling, her family, friends and all volunteers who helped on the day. A really competitive event with many close finishes. Results on website.Inter-branch Tetrathlon A well supported event. Many thanks to Annabel Brown for organising it. It was great to see so many young competitors in the Pony Club Field enjoying what is a wonderful event. Results are on the web site. Sarah Lobley organises our tetrathletes into teams and entries for events. Please contact her on sarahjanelobley@ or 07970545902. Her husband Steve has been kindly organising shooting practices. Beanies are the Under 8 years (throw Bean Bags instead of Shoot) Tadpoles are under 10 yrs. Mini are under 12 years, Junior are under 15 years. Intermediate are under 21 years and Open are under 25 years. Tetrathlon competitions now often offer lead rein jumping in an enclosed arena. Competitors in higher age groups can also elect to jump down to a lower height. Saturday Morning Rallies. These proved very popular. It did give extra help for our more novice members to get to grips with the three phases of eventing. Members with new ponies/horses were able to get them accredited with the three rallies required for area teams. Many thanks to Caroline Edmonds for organising these rallies for us.Interbranch Team Eventing Wow what a busy and long weekend. Our teeny tiny one day event on the Saturday was a great success with lots of our younger members showing great bravery and skill in tackling the three phases, most for the very first time. On Sunday the 90cm and 80cm classes were filled although numbers were low for the 1m class.Many thanks to Naomi Kitchener, her family, friends and everyone else who helped make this a most enjoyable and successful event. We had great support in the working parties and on the day from our own members, parents and friends and I would like to thank them all for their help. It is always greatly appreciated. After two long days of competition we finished within 10 minutes of published time The scorers did a great job in getting the results out very quickly after the end of each class. Thank you to Emma Canning and her helpers who worked all weekend in the refreshment cabin. Competition results are on the website.Novice Horse Show The Secretary Vikky Petch did a wonderful job ably supported by her family and friends. All the volunteer helpers were fantastic on the day. It was great to see a number of our members also giving their time to help. Everyone’s enthusiasm made it a well run, happy show. Results are on the web site.12 Year and Under Show. Sue Arnold, her family and many friends made this a very happy and successful show. It was a shame entries were low in some classes as the day was most enjoyable with lovely cups and trophies to win for our younger members with plenty of prizes and rosettes. The fancy Dress competition was a highlight of the day with many imaginative outfits for the judges to choose from. Results are on website.Road Rider Achievement Badge. The test was in the June half term where we had 8 candidates take the test. A special thank you to Liz Stewart for organising and training. Jenny and Kiri Stammers also helped train the candidates to such a high standard. We are very lucky to have such specialist trainers who give their time for the benefit of our members. Successful candidates were:- Liv Ford, Rebekah Sharpe, Hollie Heath, Katrina Sharpe, Ellie Thompson, Rebecca Smith, Victoria Sharpe, Summer Barker-Wills. Road Rider Achievement Badge must be passed before members can take C test.Cross Country training at Tweseldown. Many thanks to Vicky Sticka and Michelle Wilkinson for coaching . All riders took home some very useful advice. ................
