O*NET Interest Profiler

The O*NET Interest Profiler (IP) is a self-assessment career exploration tool, using the Holland Occupational Themes (RIASEC). These can help you discover the type of work activities and occupations that you would like and find exciting. You can use your interest results to explore the world of work. The US Department of Labor has been using the RIASEC model in the O*NET, since its inception during the late 1990s. This model has been shown to be valid in the United States, and recent studies have additionally confirmed that Holland’s RIASEC types fit well with individuals of different minority groups (Goh, Lee, & Yu, 2004). This is a valid assessment tool that will provide meaningful results.

Complete the O*NET Interest Profiler (Set of 60 questions).

Use this link to get started:

Your results will be displayed after completion. Please list your results in the table below:

The next step in the process is to begin networking, so as to obtain a position. Networking would include talking to friends, relatives, associates, co-workers, teachers, counselors, career centers, and professional associations. Joining LinkedIn will also help to expand your network for detailed searches (). This combination of people will help you to conduct informational interviews, job shadowing, internships and training. It is especially helpful to use resources at your school to assist with introductions and participation in networking events.
