CONNECTIONS

FREE books

For keeps & for real

The library is committed to helping young ones develop a lifelong love of reading through our story times (which resume this month), our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program and many other events and services. In fact, we've done everything but mail free books directly to young ones' homes. Until now.

In partnership with local schools, we're proud to introduce Dolly Parton's Imagination Library: Campbell County, Kentucky. Starting this month, Campbell County residents can register their young ones to receive a free book each month.

Imagination

continued from cover

Imagination Library is a program designed to put a new book in the hands of every child every month from birth to age 5. The library, Campbell County schools and independent school districts in Bellevue, Dayton, Fort Thomas and Newport have joined together to form Campbell County's Imagination Library. Southgate currently has its own funding for Imagination Library.

The Dolly Parton Foundation provides all costs for printing the books. The library and all of the school districts pay to have the books delivered to each child each month.

Registration is open to all children who live in Campbell County from birth to age 5. It's easy to sign up: Just pick up a paper registration form at the library, fill it out and mail it back. Starting Thursday, Sept. 5, children will be able to register online at

2

imagination-library. Eight to 10 weeks after you register, books will begin arriving.

Each book is selected by the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. If your children's ages vary between newborn and 5, each child will receive a book appropriate to that age. Each book is mailed separately, so siblings' books might arrive at different times in the month. Questions? Go to the website or ask at your nearby branch.
