Quakertown Christian School Homeschool Program

Homeschool Program Rationale

Quakertown Christian School desires to contribute to and support homeschooling families in

the community through partnership in education, enrichment, and athletics. Local school

districts are responsible to establish, monitor and regulate these homeschooling programs.

QCS assists families who are already in an approved, regulated homeschooling program by

providing opportunities to participate in academic and enrichment classes and athletics.

Participation in these programs will only be opened up if there is space within the class or

program.

Homeschool Program Options

1. Instructional Materials - QCS will make instructional material available as the school

supplies permit. Homeschooling families can choose to rent textbooks from QCS at a

cost of $40 per year. Textbook rental is required for all core academic courses.

2. Regularly Scheduled Classes - Homeschooled students may participate in the following

classes as there is room in the classroom and for those registered in the program:

? Enrichment courses (Grades 5-12)- including music, art, physical education,

conversational Spanish, and library instruction.

? Music Program ¨C including instrumental and strings instruction, ensemble and

band which practice during the school day.

? Middle School Academic Courses (Gr. 6-8) - Spanish, English, Literature, Social

Studies, Science, Bible and Math

? High School Academic Courses (Gr. 9-10)- English, Science, Math, and Bible

3. After School Sports - Girls' Volleyball, Girls' and Boys' Basketball, and Track/Field and

Boys' Soccer will be offered for students in Gr. 5 - 12

4. Chapels, Special Assemblies, and Events - Home schoolers would be welcome to

attend Chapels, Special Assemblies and Events (including Race for Education and Field

Day) if enrolled for a regularly scheduled class at QCS.

5. Library Use - The QCS Library facilities may be used on a regular basis under the

Librarian's supervision when a class is not in session. Books and videos may be

borrowed.

Scheduling and Admissions Procedures

All homeschooled families wishing to participate in the homeschool program need to complete

the following steps to register and enroll.

? Complete the Homeschool Program Application for Admission

? Pay the $75 Homeschool Program Registration Fee

? Students enrolling in academic courses will be required to attend an admissions interview

and records review with the Admissions Director and School Administrator.

Responsibilities of the Home School Family

1. Complete the QCS Home School Student Application

2. Be subject to school regulations while the home schooler is participating in a school

program or activity.

1. Pay all tuition costs prior to first class.

2. Support QCS in your prayers and with a positive spirit.

6. Attend QCS events and activities in which your child participates.

Homeschool Program Grade Reporting

Homeschool students in grades K-5 who are registered for enrichment classes will be provided

with a letter stating that the student participated in the enrichment course and stating the grade.

Students who are enrolled in academic courses in grades 6-10 will be provided with a login to

review grades throughout the course and a grade report at the end of the year indicating the

final grade. Transcripts for courses can be requested and may incur a separate fee.
