Public Comment

Rick Ryland, an Oregon Citizen, is excited about the new proposed bike path on River Road running from Route 64 to Lowden Park.

Commissioner Terry Schuster moved to approve the May 24, 2016 minutes with the correction that Mr. Barnes voted for the Prevailing Wage, Seconded by Commissioner Thomas E. Izer.

Commissioner Terry Schuster moved to approve Resolution No. 2016-3 to Support an Application for Illinois Transportation Enhancements Funds, Seconded by Commissioner Kurt Wilson.

Discussion: Curtis Cook has been working with the Park District to link Oregon with Lowden State Park. This will provide safe and alternative means of transportation for travel to the Park on River Road. This will consistent with the Ogle County Trails and Greenways Plan, as well as the Rock River Trail Initiative Plan.

If grant funding is approved the City of Oregon acknowledges their support and commitment to this project and matching dollars not to exceed thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00).

Commissioner Kurt Wilson moved to approve Ordinance 2016-105 to update the Comprehensive Plan prepared by Teska & Assoc., Seconded by Commissioner Thomas E. Izer.

Commissioner Jim Barnes moved to approve Ordinance No. 2016-106 to increase Water & Sewer Rates, Seconded by Commissioner Terry Schuster.

Commissioner Thomas E. Izer moved to approve the bid from Bonnell Industries for the IH-4900 Street Department Truck, Seconded by Commissioner Jim Barnes.

Commissioner Kurt Wilson moved to ratify the Raffle License for Oregon Park District, Seconded by Commissioner Thomas E. Izer.

Commissioner Terry Schuster announced that the Phelps Statue dedication is taking place behind the Coliseum Building Saturday June 18 at 1:00 PM. He also announced that the City Website is up and running. It will continue to be updated with enhancements being added to the Economic Development page.

Commissioner Jim Barnes has been working on updating the Coliseum Policy to allow food in the gym area. The Village of Progress is willing to inspect before and after an event at thirty dollars an inspection. He also asked Commissioner Schuster when we would be passing a budget. He will be working on it now since website is up and running. He also asked if a letter had been sent about the condition of the Apartment Building on 8th Street. Attorney Chadwick is in the process of sending a legal notice to demo the building.

Mayor Ken Williams thanked Commissioner Schuster for all the work he did to get the new city website up and running.
