Danisha Rincon Ms. KellyEnglish *CN- 56610Research PaperMay 4th, 2019Should people move to United States if they want a better living?During centaurus immigration has been a big deal in the United States. The first people to immigrate to what is now the United States were Native American during the last Ice age, followed by the Europeans after Cristobal Colon discovered America and then Africans who were forced to come to what is now United States by the Europeans to make them slaves. In 2017, there was around 61.1 million of immigrants out of 325.7 million population of United States. Now days United States is one of the countries with the highest number of immigrants from all around the world. One of the groups with the higher number of immigrant in United States are hispanic with a 17% of the total population of the USA in 2015. The population of hispanics grows everyday and it will keep growing due to the factors that keep motivating hispanics to move from their native country to the USA for a better living. One of the reason for hispanic to immigrate to US is the opportunity to gain a better education than the one offered in their home country. According to the article “Are Hispanics Finding a Better Life in the U.S.?” by The Atlantic, “The careers that second-generation Hispanic immigrants get are also generally a big improvement from those that their parents have, with a much higher share of second-generation Hispanics working white-collar jobs as opposed to their parents who are more likely to be blue-collar employees. And educational attainment just about doubles from first to second-generation”. This show us how hispanic kids usually get the chance to have a better education and even graduate from careers that are better than the ones their parents were able to get living in their home country, after moving to the USA hispanics kids are able to grow in a academically stand not mattering their low resources and poverty. Another cause of the great immigration of hispanic to US is the big amount of violence and corruption in hispanics country. For example, the article Why are Hondurans immigrating? by AJS states “In recent years, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador have faced “unprecedented levels of violence.” In 2011, Honduras had a homicide rate of 86.5 per 100,000 people, earning it the title of “murder capital of the world”. In contrast, this was 18 times higher than the homicide rate in the US at the time” and “Not only do Hondurans face high levels of violence, but it’s also unlikely that they will ever see justice for those crimes. Honduras has an impunity rate of 88%, meaning that the majority of people who commit a crime will never be convicted in court. Seventy-five percent of homicide cases are never even tried, leaving a backlog of more than 180,000 cases in the Honduran courts.”. As a result of these amount of violence and corruption thousands of hondurans have left Honduras in these recents months, hoping to move to the USA. This evidence shows that many hispanics are looking for the safety that they are not able to get in their homeland and feel as the USA is the best place to feel safe. In such for hispanic in order to have a better life if they are looking for one, moving to United States is the best option since in the U.S they obtain \e access to an education that leads them to be professionals and having more opportunities as professionals and it allows them to have safety from all the violence they are suffering and justice they are not able to receive in their native country. After the immigration and nationality act, which abolished the quota system in Asia, Europe and Africa, the number of immigrants from Asia to United States increased to a great amount. The number of immigrant from Asia to the USA in 2014 was 12, 750, 000. Throughout the years there has been different factors that affected the growing in asian immigrants in US. One of these factors is the big population that there is in Asia that create a lack of opportunities and self-develop. For example, according to the article Why Asians want to move to the U.S. from CNN BUSINESS “"No matter who you are, chances (in the United States) are equal for everyone," said Luo, adding that as a first-generation American, there have been difficult adjustments. "For cultural reasons, it's not easy to get into the mainstream social circle." Although he occasionally thinks of returning to China, the growing cost of living and uncertain political climate keep him in the U.S. "Asian countries are the most populous, has more competition and less resources," Luo said. "We are just being rational to immigrate to the countries where there are less people and more resources."”. This example show that people in Asia feel like there isn’t enough space and opportunities since there is so many of them, not allowing them to gain things because there is too many people looking into opportunities that there is only a few able to get it. Also, in the USA people have the chance to better jobs and have different opportunity depending on the person and their aspect/goals. Another factor of the increasement of asians immigration is most government in Asia, not giving people enough right and being self-made. For example, in the article Why Asians want to move to the U.S. from CNN BUSINESS states “ "China is not the best place to raise kids," said the 40-year-old man, who wants to remain anonymous so as not to jeopardize his business and family in China. As for himself, he left China feeling insecure in a society where government has the final say in everything. "Individuals should be protected by laws and everyone's commitment to obey laws," the entrepreneur said. "Everyone minds their own business here. Very few people like to judge others."” and “Still, Cheng believes her prospects are greater across the Pacific. "This is more possible in the U.S. than in Hong Kong," Cheng said”. This examples revels how the government in Asia countries don’t allow people to have many right, they decide everything and people have no saying in the government and their actions, meanwhile the USA is one of the country with the most democratic government, allowing people to have representation and a voice in the government. The immigration to United States seems to be increasing every year more and promising to keep growing. For decades there has been big argument against immigration in the United States due the negative factors that come with a great amount of immigrants in a country like the United States contains. One negative effect of immigration in US is immigrants taking low paid jobs, making the wages lower. According to FEE in the article 15 Common Arguments against Immigration, Address it states “Second, the debate over immigrant impacts on American wages is confined to the lower single digits – immigrants may increase the relative wages for some Americans by a tiny amount and decrease them by a larger amount for the few Americans who directly compete against them.” This shows how nun- native american are more likely to accept jobs with low paying and leaving companies not to attend the need of paying higher wage to Americans when they fight for it since immigrants labor cost is lower and companies could hire them and pay less. Another negative effect that supports the argument against immigration is that immigrants don’t contribute to the increasement of wealth and economy. For example, in the article 15 Common Arguments against Immigration, Address it states “Immigrants bring with them their bad cultures, ideas, or other factors that will undermine and destroy our economic and political institutions. The resultant weakening in economic growth means that immigrants will destroy more wealth than they will create.” This evidence reveals that immigrants are considered a put-down for economy due their lack of knowledge in economy and culture with bad economy, making the economy of the United States decrease instead of helping it increase, making immigrants not be needed in the country. A final factor of the argument against immigrants in the USA is the increasement of economic inequality. An example is in the article 15 Common Arguments against Immigration, Address it reads “among natives and another study that includes immigrants and their earnings. Both methods seem reasonable but the effects on inequality are small compared to other factors”. This quote shows that even though the evidence is doesn’t reveal that the effect of immigrant in economic inequality is low it still exist and is affecting society. Immigration is a very controversial topic, it affects millions of lives and the way United States has been build. Since the beginning United States is considered an immigrant country, almost more than 95% of people living in the United States come from an immigrant family from different part of the world, mainly from Europe where the first immigrants to the USA are from. There is to believe that we are all affected by immigration and that immigrants are the ones that have build United States. ................
