b. Standard Patterns: A Standard Pattern may be obtained from the DC IPT Technical Information Office and may be used to provide the criteria for all materials, components and manufacturing features not fully defined in this specification.

a. Product Description. This specification describes the materials and components for sword knots worn by the ARMY, RN, RM. & RAF.

? General to all leathers:

? All leather is to free from flaws and other defects.
? Thickness of leather is measured in accordance with BS 3144 Method 3.
? Mixed shades of leather within the individual sword knot is strictly not acceptable.
? Leather, vegetable or chrome tanned, corrected grain, dyed through finish and shade to match the standard pattern.
