Welcome

Welcome to the Neighborhood

Pensacola Bay is a bay within a part of the Florida Panhandle, in the northwestern part of Florida. The bay is an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, located in Escambia County and Santa Rosa County. It is also adjacent to the city of Pensacola. Pensacola Bay is formed and protected by Fairpoint Peninsula and the barrier island of Santa Rosa. The Pensacola Bay Bridge crosses the bay and connects Pensacola to the Gulf Breeze on the western end of the peninsula. The Gulf Islands National Seashore includes Santa Rosa Island, and encloses part of the bay with The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway running through a section of the bay. The Pensacola Pass also connects the Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. There are many intriguing shops, trendy cafes, art galleries, museums, theaters and an energetic entertainment district that surrounds the historic village. To the north, residential historic districts preserve gracious old homes in Victorian and Georgian styles while in the other direction, downtown meets waterfront. The Pensacola Bay Area's strategic position at the mouth of a deep bay determined its fate as an important military post. On the western point of Santa Rosa Island the U.S. built the mammoth Fort Pickens in the early 1830s, which is now home to today's Pensacola Beach. Now part of a national park, its well-preserved ruins sit among the magnificent pure-white sand dunes and salt-dwarfed vegetation of the Gulf Islands National Seashore.

At the east end of the bay is a surreal beachscape preserved at a long stretch known as Santa Rosa Day Use Area. In between, the town maintains a low-key profile with modern seafood restaurants, resorts, tidy beach shops, miniature golf and some full-facility beach parks with watersports and fishing piers.

There is much to learn and explore in the Pensacola Bay Area. Between the beautiful beaches and landscapes, to the history, fine dining and shopping experiences, as well as the nature trails, hiking, fishing, museums, art attractions, there is something for everyone to enjoy. It is perfect for anyone looking to relocate or families looking for a fun getaway.
