HOLYLAND PILGRIMAGE 31st July – 10th August 2018IN THE STEPS OF JESUS, with Fr Sinisa Ubiparipovic Day 1 Check-in at Boston Logan airport for overnight flight to Tel Aviv.Day 2 Arrive in Tel Aviv. Meet coach and guide, and transfer to Bethlehem. Mass on arrival.Check into the Manger Square Hotel, or similar, for 2 nights, dinner, bed & breakfast. Day 3 Full day in Bethlehem. Visit the Church of the Nativity and see the birthplace of Jesus and the Holy Manger. See the Churches of St Catherine, St Jerome – where we celebrate Mass, St Joseph, and the Holy Innocents. An hour of meditation in the Holy Manger. Afternoon visit the lovely Milk Grotto. Walk to the Shepherds Fields for an hour of meditation. Before returning to hotel, we visit Sr. Sophie’s Holy Family Children’s Home – an orphanage for the abandoned children of Palestine. Dinner and overnight at hotel.Day 4 Morning drive by the Inn of the Good Samaritan, and along Wadi Kelt, where we take a short walk to visit the Monastery of St George. Continue to Jericho and see the Mount of Temptation, and the Sycamore tree of Zacchaeus. Drive to the Dead Sea with time to relax or float on the water near where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found at Qumran. Afternoon drive along the Jordan Valley to Yardinet at the River Jordan, for renewal of our Baptismal Vows. Mass at the Jordan. Continue to Tiberias, and stay at the Restal Hotel or similar, for 3 nights, dinner, bed & breakfast.Day 5 Morning boat trip across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum with a stop in centre of Lake for relevant Bible readings and quiet time. Visit the old Synagogue and see the excavations of Peter’s house. Nearby, visit the church of the Primacy by the sea-shore and celebrate Mass. Afternoon visit the site of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish at Tabgha. Drive to the Mount of Beatitudes for reading of the great Sermon on the Mount. Two hours of quiet time for reflection and meditation on the scene before our eyes. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.Day 6 Morning drive to Mount Tabor. Ascend by taxi to the Church of the Transfiguration, where we celebrate Mass, and view the Valley of Armageddon. One hour quiet time for meditation. Depart for Cana and visit the church of the Wedding Feast – site of Jesus’ first miracle. Drive to Nazareth Village for a special Passover Meal. Afternoon visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, see the Cave–home of the Holy Family, Joseph’s workshop, and Marys Well. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.Day 7Drive across the Jezreel Valley to Emmaus, where Jesus appeared after His Resurrection. Continue to Bethany and visit the Tomb of Lazarus. Drive to the Holyland Hotel, or similar, for 2 nights, dinner, bed & breakfast.Afternoon visit the Mount of Olives for group photo, and view the Old City. Visit the Ascension Dome, Pater Noster church, Dominus Flevit for Mass, Assumption church and Grotto and the Garden of Gethsemane. Day 8 Sunrise walk along the Via Dolorosa to the church of the Holy Sepulchre for Mass, and climb the Rock of Calvary. Return to hotel (just outside the Walls of the Old City), for breakfast. Visit church of St Anne and Pool of Bethesda. Visit the church of St Peter in Gallicantu – church of the Cock-Crow, and enter the dungeon where Jesus was held on Holy Thursday night. Time for meditation where Jesus walked from the Garden of Gethsemane to the House of Caiphas. Walk around Mount Zion and visit the church of the Dormition, Tomb of David, and Room of the Last Supper. Visit the Western Wall. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.Day 9 Drive to Ein Karem for Mass in the church of the Visitation, then visit the birthplace of John the Baptist. Nearby, we visit Yad Vashem – Holocaust Memorial, where we remember man’s inhumanity to man. Afternoon special time for reflection in the Garden of Gethsemane. Dinner and overnight at hotel.Day 10Mass in the Notre Dame Centre, Jerusalem. The rest of the day is free in Jerusalem. Scavenger hunt. Dinner at hotel. Evening transfer to Tel Aviv airport for return overnight flight to Boston.Day 11Early morning arrival in Boston. Cost per person sharing: $3195.
