RAGS TO RICHES COLLECTION RAISES ?230 FOR SCHOOL

Wendy McNee would like to thank everyone who donated to the Rags to Riches collection of 26th November organised by Friends of Tansley School (FOTS). The collection raised ?230 for the school.

METHODIST CHURCH COFFEE STOP CONTINUES, NO SOUP & SWEET FOR A WHILE

The Fair Trade Coffee Stop in the Methodist Church continues as usual every Friday 10am until 12 noon.

There will be no Soup & Sweet in the church until the second phase of the work on the Brunswick Rooms is completed in a few months time.

PLEASE DONATE OLD MOBILES & INKJET CARTRIDGES IN AID OF VILLAGE HALL

If you have any old mobile phones or empty inkjet cartridges, please drop them off at Fir Cottages, Church Street (entrance next to village green bus shelter) - so that they can be sent to Recycle4Charity to raise money for the Village Hall Restoration Fund.

TANSLEY--STILL "ALIVE & KICKING" IN 2011!

Tansley Village Hall, busy and vibrant enough to win Tansley a mention in a Sunday Telegraph article last year as a village that is "alive and kicking", can offer you the following entertainment over the first few months of 2011:

Wednesday-Saturday 9th-12th February--"Cinderella" A pantomime by Tansley Players, directed by Bev Oates. See poster below.

Saturday 19th February--"Robin Hood" A film starring Russell Crowe & Kate Blanchett. Certificate 12A. Family entertainment courtesy of Tansley Film Club (TFC).

Tuesday 1st March--"Hotel Rwanda" A political thriller based on fact. An ordinary man summons extraordinary courage to save the lives of over 1,000 refugees by granting them shelter in the hotel he manages. (TFC)

Saturday 5th March--Motown Disco See poster overleaf for details.

TANSLEY PUBS RAISE MONEY FOR GOOD CAUSES

The Gate's 2010 charity report shows that the pub raised ?1,627.93 for good causes last year. Donations of ?800 each go to Tansley Primary School and Help for Heroes. The remaining ?27.93 has been carried over into the current year.

The Tavern's Christmas raffle raised ?250 - half of which was given to Tansley Pre- School and half to Tansley Primary School.

Thanks from the licensees of both pubs to those who helped raise this money.

These homes are for people in need of affordable housing who have a strong local connection to the Parish of Tansley.

FRESH FISH & MEAT DELIVERIES IN TANSLEY

Nick Cooper - "The Codfather" - delivers fresh fish to Tansley every other Friday. His mobile phone number is 079 313 64680. Another man, Richard, brings fresh fish to the village on Wednesdays. (He disappeared for a while following an injury to his leg). His number 01623 743416.

Robin Maycock ? Holloway Village Butchers & Bakers ? delivers meat and other produce to Tansley on Saturday mornings. The shop's range includes savoury pies, ready-made meals, puddings and cakes. Tel. 01629 534333.

NEW DONATIONS MADE TO VILLAGE HALL RESTORATION FUND

Two new donations were made to the Village Hall Restoration Fund, now totalling ?70,747.Tansley Garden & Countryside Club made a ?50 donation while Santa's visit to Tansley, organised by Sarah and Neil Green through Peak Vale Tractor Pulling Club, contributed a further ?96.50.
