Advanced Malware Clean Up for Mac

1. Navigate to the App Store. 2. Search for ClamXav in the search bar in the upper right-hand corner. 3. Get ClamXav. 4. After installing, update the program if necessary.
AdwareMedic
1. Navigate to the App Store.
2. Search for AdwareMedic in the search bar in the upper right-hand corner.
3. Scan for Adware.
Avast!
Note: Avast! conflicts with other virus cleaner software. Please uninstall ClamXav before installing Avast!.

Internet Browser Clean-Up
Safari 1. In the Toolbar at the top of the screen, click Safari > Preferences. 2. Make sure your homepage is set to something normal like . 3. Go to the "Extensions" tab and remove anything that seems suspicious, especially if it is related to advertising. 4. Go to the toolbar at the top of the screen, click Safari > Reset Safari.
Google Chrome 1. Open up Google Chrome and select the hamburger on the top right hand side of the screen.
2. Select "Settings". 3. Click on "Extensions" on the upper left-hand corner. 4. Delete all of the extensions that are not personal/known or attributed to Google. 5. Select "Settings". 6. Click on "Manage search engines..."
7. Hover the cursor over one search engines to make it the default. Delete the rest of the search engines.
8. Select "Show advanced settings..."
9. Under Privacy, select "Clear browsing data..." 10. Change the dropdown to "the beginning of time"
11. Select "Clear browsing data". 12. Scroll to the bottom, and select "Reset settings".
Mozilla Firefox 1. After Firefox opens, click Ctrl, Shift, Delete. A window should appear to clear recent history. Change the time range to clear to "Everything". Select "Clear Now".
1A. Alternative option: After opening Firefox, select the hamburger in the top right-hand corner (Refer to Step 1 under Google Chrome for an example). Select "History" then select "Clear Recent History". 2. Open the hamburger in the top right-hand corner (Refer to Step 1 under Google Chrome for an example) and select "Options". 3. Under the "Search" tab, choose your preferred Default Search Engine. Remove the remaining search engines.
Malware Prevention
1. Refrain from purchasing Anti-Virus/Malware Software. Many of the top name brands do not offer any more coverage than some of the free software available. The program will not actively scan for malware; you must open the program and initiate the scan for it to be effective. 2. Install CCleaner using the following link: .
