Overview for Administrators

• The Periop 101: A Core Curriculum (Periop 101) course is designed to support the Perioperative Nursing role.

• The Periop 101 Course is a packaged product, and should be assigned as a package. You will not be able to create new modules that pick and choose which lessons to assign. Periop lessons cannot be assigned individually, or included in modules other than the pre-built Periop module.

• There are three courses: Administrator, Student, and Preceptor.

• The course has been divided into four roles: Administrator, Student, Preceptor, and Proctor.

• Proctors are assigned by the Administrator to “unlock” each Student’s exam.

• Administrators must take the “Administrator Course” before a student can take the “Student Course.” The course provides guidance to those who administer the “Student Course.”

• A Periop Administrator can take the “Student Course” and that Administrator will not consume a Student seat.

Note: Administrators do not earn credits when they take the “Student Course.”

• At least one Administrator from each facility where the “Student Course” is used must complete the “Administrator Course.”

• Assignment of the Administrator, Preceptor, Proctors, and/or Student courses will be accomplished manually, using the existing LMS administrative processes.

How many Administrators can we have?

• Each organization may have two free administrators.

• Additional Administrators may be added to a facility for a fee.

• Administrator permissions cannot be transferred across users. Each Administrator assignment consumes an Administrator course seat. If an Administrator leaves, the client can purchase an additional Administrator seat, if they want to give someone else Administrator permissions for the Student and Preceptor courses.

• Upon renewal, your organization is entitled to two new Administrator seats. For example, upon the first renewal, the organization would now be entitled to have four Administrators - the original two, plus the two new ones. The same applies for subsequent renewals.

How many Preceptors can we have?

• The Periop 101 standard license includes 4 preceptor seats. Organizations may purchase additional Preceptor seats. Access is managed using the standard LMS seat licensing process. For information about the LMS Seat Licensing process, see the Help document from the Administrator Help menu named “Seat Counting Report.”

Who can be an Administrator?

• Any user that is assigned and completes the “Periop 101 Administrator Course.”

Note: Users enrolled in the “Student Periop Course” cannot also be Periop Administrators.

Module Assignment of the Periop 101

To assign the Periop 101 course, a user must be BOTH an LMS Administrator with rights to assign modules, and a Periop 101 Administrator.

• Access to assign the “Student Course” and/or “Preceptor Course” is limited to the designated Periop Administrators.

• Access to assign the Administrator Course shall be limited to LMS System Administrators only. However, the System Administrator can designate Administrators with the option to assign the “Preceptor Course” and the “Student Course” in both the “Local” and “Global” module lists.

• Selecting a course for assignment displays the custom assignment that permits modification of the due date. The Due Date for the “Student Course” may be set to a date not greater than 6 months from the Date of Assignment. The Due Date for the “Preceptor Course” may be set to a date not greater than 90 days from the Date of Assignment.

Note: Administrators are encouraged to only extend a Student’s Due Date for unusual, unforeseen circumstances, such as for military deployment.

Administrative Access to Courses

• As an Administrator you may access the “Administrator Course”, the “Preceptor Course”, and the “Student Course” and Final Exam.

Administrator Course Overview

At least one Administrator from each facility where the “Student Course” is used must complete the “Administrator Course.”

• You receive 3.0 contact hours for completing the “Administrator Course.”

• You must complete the lesson and the associated test with an 80% or higher score.

• After successful completion, you must then add/update your CE Profile, complete an evaluation of the course and then you may print your own Certificate of Completion.

• As an Administrator, you do NOT receive contact hours for the completion of the “Student Course.”

• If an Administrator takes the “Preceptor Course” that activity counts as use of a Preceptor seat.

• An Administrator can be a Preceptor at the same time they are an Administrator.

• You have 2 years to complete the “Administrator Course.” Once you complete the “Administrator Course”, you have unlimited access to the “Administrator Course” for the life of the Facility Agreement.
