This software is made by TechSmith and can be found at . The current one-time license is $49.95 (can be installed on 2 computers). There are discounts for students & teachers, non-profits, and government organizations.

TWO Main Parts to SnagIt:

? The Capture Window ? Where you initiate a screen capture and adjust the settings to determine what kind of "capture" you'd like.

? The Edit Window ? Where you can edit your image or video and save.

How do you open and start taking a screen capture? There are three ways...

1. From your list of apps, find SnagIt under TechSmith or from an Icon in your toolbar 2. In the Notifications area, click the SnagIt icon 3. If you have the SnagIt Editor open, click the Red "Capture button

Different Types of Captures:

1) All-in-One (gives you more flexibility in saving later), 2) Image and 3) Video. We're going to focus on Image captures in this class. There are several types of captures under the Selection Window:

? Region is usually the default, what you will use most.

? Window automatically grabs the window you have open.

? Full Screen automatically grabs your whole desktop.

? Scrolling window grabs a scrolling window, like a website. ? Panoramic is similar to the scrolling window, but you can grab just a region of the window. ? Grab Text lets you select the text on a page and makes it editable. ? Advanced ? We'll leave those options for a future class.
