PUC offers two options for COVID testing in order to check for current or active infection.? Note, this is separate from the antibody test which looks for PRIOR infection.1) You have the right to have COVID testing and use your insurance.? In order to do so, you must see a provider and possibly have a PCR test ordered.? The PCR test is considered the "gold standard".? This is a nasal swab test which is sent out to a lab and can take 2-4 days (although turn around time varies depending on demand).? You would be evaluated and screened by a provider and the ordering of the test is done by the provider.? YOU ARE ABLE TO USE YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE for this option and could possibly have NO out of pocket expense for this visit when billed to your health insurance.? ?IF YOU CHOOSE TO SEE A PROVIDER FOR A COVID TEST, THEY CAN NOT DO A RAPID TEST AND IT MUST BE THE SEND OUT TEST.2) Self pay rapid testing is a convenient, fast alternative where you can register from your phone and pay directly for the test alone.? The rapid COVID test is also a nasal swab which is done in house and takes about 15-20 min to run.? This DOES NOT require or include an evaluation or visit with the provider.? You will be seen and tested by a medical assistant.? However, due to our expenses and insurance contracts, this test MUST BE PAID FOR "OUT OF POCKET" and CAN NOT be submitted to insurance or the government for reimbursement.? Please understand that if purchased, the rapid test is solely your financial responsibility and does not include a provider visit.? WE OFFER THIS OPTION FOR PATIENTS WHO DESIRE A QUICK SCREENING TEST BASED ON THEIR OWN DISCRETION AND DO NOT WANT A MEDICAL EVALUATION.? IF YOU DECIDE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE A PROVIDER AFTER A RAPID TEST, YOU MUST CHECK BACK IN AND IT WILL BE A SEPARATE VISIT.? ?? ................
