Founded in 1923, Rowan University has evolved from a teacher preparation school to a comprehensive research university that's ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the best national public research universities in the nation.

It offers bachelor's through doctoral programs to 19,465 students through its campuses in Glassboro, Camden and Stratford, New Jersey. Home to Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and the School of Osteopathic Medicine, it is one of only three universities in the nation to grant both M.D. and D.O. medical degrees.

Rowan also comprises the William G. Rohrer College of Business; the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering; the colleges of Communication & Creative Arts; Education; Humanities & Social Sciences; Performing Arts; and Science & Mathematics; the School of Health Professions; the School of Earth & Environment, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and a multidisciplinary honors college. Rowan is collaborating with regional leaders to create research and academic programs in health sciences. Rowan's outreach and growth in education, research and innovation include development and initiatives at its Edelman Fossil Park and South Jersey Technology Park in Mantua Township.

The historic $100-million Rowan gift in 1992 put then-Glassboro State College on a fast track. At the time, the gift was the largest to a public institution in the U.S., and it fostered the creation of the College of Engineering and enabled ambitious growth. Alumni, friends and corporate donors are among those investing in Rowan and its students.
