RAILROADS IN THE UNITED STATES

There are many legendary stories regarding the Rome, Watertown and Ogdensburg Railroad (translated in time to "Rotten Wood and Old Rusty Rails”.) Many people fondly called the R.W.& O. the "Hojack." It seems that in the early days of the railroad, a farmer in his buckboard drawn by a bulky mule was caught on a crossing at train time. ................
