Obviously a larger area indicates a larger roller, but a smaller roller may be beneficial in tighter areas. Nap is another variable. Nap is basically the length of the fibers on the roller. The longer the nap, the more paint the roller will hold. A shorter nap works well on smoother surfaces, where as a rough surface requires a longer nap to coat the surface.
