Presence indicators in the Tab List The Tab List shows presence indicators for all contacts in tabbed conversations.Tab notifications Tabs are highlighted when they require attention (for example, when a contact is sending you an instant message or calling you). Quick access to common tasks Windows??7, Tabbed Conversations provides quick access to common tasks. You can start a new conversation or make a call rapidly from the taskbar. Install Tabbed ConversationsBefore you can run Tabbed Conversations, you need to install it on your computer. A tabbed conversation window opens. Note Tabbed Conversations is a separate program, not a Lync add-in, so it must be started before you can use it with Lync. Also, if Lync is restarted, Tabbed Conversations must also be restarted.Add a ConversationTo add a tabbed conversation, do one of the following:In the Lync main window, double-click a contact to open a new conversation tab.In the tabbed conversations window, click the + tab, click a contact in the Send an Instant Message window, and then click OK.Detach a ConversationTo detach a conversation from the conversation window, do the following:Click Detach Conversation (eject icon) on the tab header. This opens a separate window for that conversation.Note After a conversation is detached, it cannot be reattached.View the Presence Status of the Contacts in Your ConversationsAll the tab headers except for the one for the active conversation have presence indicators for your contacts (the presence of the contact in your active conversation is shown in the header of the conversation window). Always display the main windowSelect this option if you want the Tabbed Conversations window to appear even when there are no conversations active. This option is useful if you have Tabbed Conversations pinned to the Windows 7 taskbar. Flash the taskbar for notificationsSelect this option to make the Tabbed Conversations icon flash in the taskbar instead of providing an overlay icon. Note that this option is available only in Windows 7. Open new tabs automaticallyWhen this option is activated, after you accept a conversation invitation, the new conversation becomes the active conversation. If the option is not activated, accepting an invitation will not automatically switch your active tab to the new conversation.Quickly Access Common TasksIf you are running Windows 7, you can quickly access common Lync tasks. Tabbed Conversations lets you start a new IM conversation or make a call from the taskbar and provides a handy “redial” list of the last five conversations.
