How to Apply for Financial Aid

for Domestic Students

For Families of Students Applying for Admission to Lehigh:

Families who are interested in financial aid must submit a CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Application. Lehigh requires this form, as do about 500 other selective, private colleges and universities to determine eligibility for institutional funds. Please read carefully each college’s information on the financial aid application process so that no deadline is missed. Lehigh’s code for CSS is 2365.

Registration worksheets, for the PROFILE service, will be available in your high school guidance office during the fall of your senior year. You can also register for this service by calling 1-800-778-6888 or electronically through their web page at profileonline.. You should register as early as November 1 if you will be applying for admission under early decision. (Jan.1 for regular admission). You must file the completed PROFILE Application by November 15 for early decision and February 1 for regular admission to be considered "on time" for financial aid consideration. Register by January 15 and complete the PROFILE by February 1.

As noted previously, you will also be required to the file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify for federal and state-funded student aid. The FAFSA is also available in high school guidance offices, or at fafsa.. Lehigh’s code for FAFSA is 003289.  Please consult the table below for appropriate times to file the FAFSA.

Reapplying in subsequent years:

The reapplication process for returning students is on a different calendar, since there is no May 1 Freshman Candidate's Reply Date to be concerned about.  April 15 is the refiling date, which is more closely aligned to the filing of federal tax returns. Lehigh requires filing the renewal editions of the same two forms: the CSS Financial Aid PROFILE - Renewal Application; and the Renewal FAFSA, in addition to a Lehigh application and copies of Federal Tax returns (IRS 1040) for 2003.  A packet containing all requisite forms will be available for pickup in the Office of Financial Aid, notification will be made to all aid applicants from the previous year.

Satisfactory Progress:

Determining the satisfactory progress of a student for continuing eligibility of financial aid requires a review of grade point average as it relates to the graduation requirement; and progress in courses passed based on curriculum requirements. At Lehigh, with three undergraduate colleges and 70 majors, the requirements for satisfactory progress can be easily met.
