To calculate specific numbers:
1. Calculate Weighted MC (Section 1) score.
2. Subtract from Red number indicating lower bound of Composite Score range.
3. Divide by 10. (Move the decimal point one place to the left.
4. The answer indicates the average score required on Section II Free Response Answers.
Example: If your weighted MC score is 48.
106 - 48 = 58
58/10 = 5.8
To get a 5 on the exam you must score an average of 6.6 on the free response (Section II) answers.
85 - 48 = 37
37/10 = 3.7
To get a 4 you must score an average of 4.4 on the free response.
To check: Weighted MC score + DBQ(4.5) + Q2(2.75) +Q3(2.75) = desired score
48 + 3.7(4.5) + 3.7(2.75) + 3.7(2.75) =
48 + 19.8 + 12.1 + 12.1 = 85
