PDF Fillable Forms and IAPsWhen using our fillable forms to create an IAP, there is an extra step you need to take to avoid conflicts using the same documents in an IAP – documents like the ICS 204. ISSUE: If you save multiple forms of the same kind in a pdf document, such as a Form 204, when you print, most times you will end up instead of a copy of each Form 204 (one for each division or group) you will find it will print every Form 204 with the content of the first Form 204 in the print job. SOLUTION: Before compiling all the fillable forms into an IAP document, you will need to “flatten” the form first. This means once you complete all the fields in the form, rather than saving the form to a folder, you need to “print to PDF” and point the application to print to a folder of your choice. When you print to PDF, you strip out the code for the fillable fields and you end up with a simple PDF that can be compiled into one pdf document without having any conflicts with other forms of the same kind.PROCEDURE:Open fillable form and complete all fieldsOnce form is complete, to save the form go to “Print” and select Printer – “Print to PDF”A popup will as where you will want to save a copy of the printed PDF – save to your IAP folder (Create a folder for each operational period)Save your original fillable pdf into a “Working IAP Folder”. You can open these files to update or edit without having to complete the same form over again. Perform this process for each ICS Form for your IAPOnce all the forms are completed, you can create an IAP by opening Adobe DC and select “Combine files into 1 PDF”. (Adobe Reader will not “combine files” into one PDF)Navigate to your “flattened” ICS forms you just created and select the forms to be combined into one PDF.“Combine files” and save your newly combined PDF to your IAP folder. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat DC, you can print each file off individually in Adobe Reader and create your master hard copy for printing your IAP. You can then scan the document after printing to create a complete electronic file of the IAP in one document. ................
